Fab Freebie: A Literal Fab Freebie

***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***

You guys hit the 10,000 entry cap to giveaway within 24 hours, so you must love some Fab as much as I do (or perhaps you just like $500). Either way, we’ve crowned a random winner and it is… Whitney (who says “Most of my apartment is muted gray, yellow, and blue, but my kitchen has bright red baking dishes on display.”) Congrats Whitney!

I’m a recent addict to Fab (I own more t-shirts from there than I probably should admit). So imagine my reaction when I got an email from them offering to do a – wait for it – $500 Fab gift card giveaway for you guys. Their site includes items marked down between 10-60% from retail prices across just about every category – home, accessories, art, kitchen, pets, kids, clothing, jewelry, etc. And everything is selected with a discriminating-but-not-too-serious design eye. There’s an emphasis on quirky, weird, and colorful items within their sales… which means there’s a lot of fun to be had while spending the five hundred beans that are up for grabs.

Fab Dot Com Giveaway

  • PRIZE: A $500 gift card toward Fab
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “FAB ME!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …what’s something weird, quirky, or colorful in your home that you love? Is it a bold art print in your entryway? An armchair with a happy pattern in your living room? Or several dozen ceramic animals placed throughout your house… not that we’d know anything about that.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, January 30th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: We always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond specific areas (more on that here). This giveaway is open to the United States, Canada, and much of Europe (click here for a specific list of countries)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
  • ***COMMENT ISSUES? If you’re trying to enter but keep getting a “duplicate comment” warning, click here to see how to solve it!

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Fab.

    Fab me!

I need more color in my life/house. It is a little thing, but I love my turquoise pots in my kitchen. I leave them on the stove just to bring some color into the place.

Fab Me!! I am totally addicted to Fab! I would have to say the quirkiest piece(s) in my home are the two charcoal caricatures that my husband and I had drawn of us while on our honeymoon in Italy…they are like beautiful drawings in the way that the charcoal was used but then you see the huge honking noses…they are hilarious and actually take up a pretty large piece of wall real estate!

In our home we have a 2×2′ light blue canvas with the words “I love the ish out of you” in block, white letters down one side. It never fails to make visitors stop, star and maybe even chuckle … but for my husband and I its just the absolute truth :)

Fab me! My favorite quirky thing is my son Oscar’s room. It’s such a fun room! And it boasts a school bus yellow dresser that I painted when I was pregnant… it’s eerily similar to the one you just bought for Clara’s big girl room!

We have a large abstract acrylic painting my husband’s buddy created after a long night of partying. Seriously. It’s a colorful, incognito female nude, and it’s right in our kitchen nook, lady parts and all! What can I say? The colors work well w/our home and it fills the space just right.

When my husband and I bought our first home (almost 2 years ago!) the first paint color I chose for our 70 year old home was in the kitchen – bright red! My husband doubted, but it turned out great once everything was in and I added some burlap accessories. I still love the way it turned out!

We’ve got a plaster bust of Chairman Mao that is hot pink and fuzzy flocked. It’s been with me for almost 6 years, 3 houses, and I bought it a week before my husband and I met. Somehow, weird as it is, we always find a place for it to make it work.

FAB ME! I have a teal blue ceramic hippo in my living room bookcase. It was in my Dad’s home office all through my childhood, and I always adored it from afar. Last time I was visiting my dad, I noticed it still up on his bookshelf where it had been for all those years… and asked him about where it came from. He said he got it as a gift many years back, and he had no idea why or where the gift was purchased. After a minute of Googling, I found out it’s a replica of an Egyptian tomb artifact from 1961–1878 B.C., the original of which is on display at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC. So cool! It proudly hangs out alongside some family photos and some books, including the YHL book of course!

I would say that the weirdest thing i have is a crystal rat. Yes, a rat. I purchased it on our honeymoon almost 34 years ago and just fell in love with its expression. It is a very strange object since I don’t like these creatures at all, but a crystal one is fine.
