Fab Freebie: A Literal Fab Freebie

You guys hit the 10,000 entry cap to giveaway within 24 hours, so you must love some Fab as much as I do (or perhaps you just like $500). Either way, we’ve crowned a random winner and it is… Whitney (who says “Most of my apartment is muted gray, yellow, and blue, but my kitchen has bright red baking dishes on display.”) Congrats Whitney!

I’m a recent addict to Fab (I own more t-shirts from there than I probably should admit). So imagine my reaction when I got an email from them offering to do a – wait for it – $500 Fab gift card giveaway for you guys. Their site includes items marked down between 10-60% from retail prices across just about every category – home, accessories, art, kitchen, pets, kids, clothing, jewelry, etc. And everything is selected with a discriminating-but-not-too-serious design eye. There’s an emphasis on quirky, weird, and colorful items within their sales… which means there’s a lot of fun to be had while spending the five hundred beans that are up for grabs.

    Um, weird would be our La Marie (clear acrylic) chair by Phillipe Starck I guess. It always throws people off – “can we sit in it??” is the usual response. And yes, you can!

    Oooh I would LOVE this freebie! Been trying to get my husband’s T-shirt collection to be half as cool as yours John, haha. My favorite quirky accessories in my home are my art prints from an old printshop but done in a modern way. I think my home could use some big hits of quirk though now that I think about it!

    FAB ME!! I need to get me some quirky items to make our new house more us! For now my answer would have to be my husbands hunting room…. With his hanging deer head, flying goose and a bobcat to come shortly, ooh can’t wait :)

    FAB ME!! I have an old aqua blue typewriter on one of my built in shelves next to the fireplace. What’s so neat about it though is how I got it. I knew I wanted an old typewriter, but specifically knew I wanted a smaller one with a unique color. I happened upon a church rummage sale one Saturday and saw it there.. for $2! It was meant to be!

    FAB ME!!

    I love our chartreuse glider we just got from Buy Buy Baby. It’s structured enough for the living room so we keep it there, even though it’s supposed to go in a nursery! I love hanging out with my son in it, in the afternoons, before I lay him down for his afternoon nap.

    FAB ME!!!

    We are in an apartment and we just moved half the country away from our home state. We didnt want to pay $$$ for a giant U-Haul, so we only brought what would fit into my parents trailer. We JUST bought a couch after living here almost 6 months(love love love) but until about a week ago the “weirdest” “quirkiest” thing in our apartment was probably the LEAKY TWIN SIZED AIR MATTRESS that we were using as a couch filler-inner.

    FAB ME!! i have the key to my great grandmother’s farm in czech republic framed! my grandmother gave it to my husband and i as a house warming gift when we bought our first home this year!

    Fab me. I have an 8×10 green rug in my living room, like Granny Smith apple green. It’s so bright but balances out all the neutrals in my house. I think I also love it because its a $1200 rug that I scored online for only $120 thanks to a clerical error and a missing zero!!

    I just spray-painted a 70s wicker peacock chair a bright peacock blue, and it is my favorite “fab” thing in my house right now.

    My favorite thing in our whole house is our super duper fabulous floor-length mirror. It is a chunky wood that is silver/gray and weighs a ton. (not literally). Husband hates it because he has to move it too much. haha.

    fab me, fab me, fab me – please! My house is colored by an ever growing collection of vintage bottles, ceramic objects and glassware in turquoise and blue. I’m really in love with all “water-colours”….

    Fab me! We have a large panoramic, stretched-canvas photo of a beach scene in Florida (where we are originally from) that hangs in our basement on a wall that is painted the same bright color green as the palm trees in the photo. Feels like home even in the middle of a snowy winter.

    Fab me…my awesome colorful fish tank! It’s not a decor item really, but it becomes a focal point and a conversation piece when people are visiting.

    I have a wall of painted dog portraits. I have collected them over the years… Yorkies with bows on velvet drapes, hunting dogs on the prowl, and more. It’s so quirky and fun!

    We have an amazingly colorful print called “Robot Owl” hanging in our bathroom. The artist is Matt Spangler and we love catching him at street fairs and the like here in San Diego.

    I try to sneak a little cat-themed decor in every room in my apartment (because, yes, I am a cat lady). My favorite is a pink and purple abstract painting of cat face in the dining room…extra points for awesome because my friend painted it for me with my cat obsession in mind.

    FAB ME! We have a poster-size print of the The Very, Very Many Varieties of Beer (from Pop Chart Lab) in our Dining Room. It’s one of those items that draws everyone’s eye in and it’s a good conversation starter when we have gatherings.

    Fab me!

    One of my favorite collections is a group of clay pinch pots and figurines that my kids make in art class at school. I love that their teacher helped them to create something that I’ll have forever. :)
