Fab Freebie: A Literal Fab Freebie

You guys hit the 10,000 entry cap to giveaway within 24 hours, so you must love some Fab as much as I do (or perhaps you just like $500). Either way, we’ve crowned a random winner and it is… Whitney (who says “Most of my apartment is muted gray, yellow, and blue, but my kitchen has bright red baking dishes on display.”) Congrats Whitney!

I’m a recent addict to Fab (I own more t-shirts from there than I probably should admit). So imagine my reaction when I got an email from them offering to do a – wait for it – $500 Fab gift card giveaway for you guys. Their site includes items marked down between 10-60% from retail prices across just about every category – home, accessories, art, kitchen, pets, kids, clothing, jewelry, etc. And everything is selected with a discriminating-but-not-too-serious design eye. There’s an emphasis on quirky, weird, and colorful items within their sales… which means there’s a lot of fun to be had while spending the five hundred beans that are up for grabs.

    Fab me! The quirkiest thing I have in my house is my collection of WWE thumb wrestlers my friends and I got out of a quarter machine in HS. We used to secretly gift them to classmates back in the late 90s and people were jealous of those who received them.

    Fab me! It’s a toss up which I love more…my gigantic black and white lion photo over my couch…or my spray painted branches in a vase that hold anything seasonal- ornaments for Christmas, colorful paper leaves in spring and “thankful tags” in the fall!

    FAB ME!

    I collect vintage needlepoint. I have an 18″ x 36″ that is a sort of an illustrated poem utilizing all of the letters in the alphabet describing food: “Apple, shiny and red. Bread. Carrots, cucumbers and cabbage too. Doughnuts covered with goo. Etc…” Best $10 ever!

    Fab Me!!! We have a painting we lovingly call, “chicken tit”. We love her but she definitely attracts attention. And yes, she has both things in her name….

    I love fab.com and their business story. So inspirational. Anyway, I have a metal horse head statue I spray painted bright purple and its FABULOUS! It makes me smile everytime I see it.

    Fab Me! The 5 minute cartoon sketches that my husband and I had done by a street artist on our honeymoon in Paris. They are framed and hanging in our stairwell!

    FAB ME!
    It took me a while to think of something colorful and/or quirky in our home; we’re woefully short on both of those things. Then I remembered my 22 year old son’s room. When we moved in last year he chose a bright purple paint color. We have a 70’s era tourist painting from Arizona – desert sunset, cacti, full of oranges and browns. It was “inherited” from my husband’s dad, who had it hanging up in the garage for years and years. (Once my mother-in-law kicked it out of the house, I’m sure.) Well, it looks great against the purple wall!

    Fab me!!

    We have a large clock in the shape of Vietnam in black laminate with beautiful, delicate mother of pearl inlays depicting different traditions around the country. It’s not modern or trendy but it’s quirky and striking and was one of my mother-in-law’s prized possessions that she was able to salvage during the Vietnam War (she grew up in Vietnam).

    FAB ME!! I love a cork board that I glued different jewels to the pins that stood out enough to hold various necklaces. I love it because it’s cute and functional!

    The weirdest thing we have in our house is Zombie Joe hanging in our living room from when my boyfriend went to a shooting range in Florida. It’s definitely different and although it scares me to death in the middle of the night it’s a great personal piece.

    Fab Me!

    The weirdest thing in our home currently is a chaise lounge chair I have had since college (which my dad saved from my youth pastor’s trash pile on the side of the road). I refuse to get rid of it because I LOVE it, but it is in major need of a refinish. It’s on my to-do list for when we buy our next house! :) It’s my fav and I can’t wait to make it fun and bright!

    Fab Me!! Our living room has two bright magenta ottomans that I love – not only were they a steal from a Walmart clearance sale of all places, they’ve got storage inside and the lids flip over to a flat wooden top. Hubby keeps threatening to get rid of their pink-ness, but so far they’re holding on since nothing else we can find compares!

    I have the colorful Missoni for Target blanket on my bed. The blue in it matches my bedroom wall color, Colonial Blue by Benjamin Moore.

    We have a fabulous Charley Harper print of an otter munching a starfish in the bathroom, appropriately titled, “Otterly Delicious.” I got this for my fiance when he asked if we could get an otter for the tub.

    My husband painted some art that creates an optical illusion… it doesn’t go with anything in our house but he worked so hard on it and he did it with so much patience that I love it!

    I have a campfire shaped pillow that I found at a thrift store and had to buy, even though I think the friend with me thought it was a little weird. It looks so cute next to our family room fireplace. :)

    I love all the little colorful ceramic birds nestled here and there in our house. And my collection of ceramic, pyrex and stoneware mixing bowls.

    FAB ME! I’ve got a bright yellow picture frame that lives on my desk. Everything surrounding it is subdued blacks and whites, but the yellow frame reminds me to lighten up when work gets crazy!
