I’m a recent addict to Fab (I own more t-shirts from there than I probably should admit). So imagine my reaction when I got an email from them offering to do a – wait for it – $500 Fab gift card giveaway for you guys. Their site includes items marked down between 10-60% from retail prices across just about every category – home, accessories, art, kitchen, pets, kids, clothing, jewelry, etc. And everything is selected with a discriminating-but-not-too-serious design eye. There’s an emphasis on quirky, weird, and colorful items within their sales… which means there’s a lot of fun to be had while spending the five hundred beans that are up for grabs.

FAB ME! My husband is an architect, so our house is pretty sleek and modern. But I like to sneak in random non-sleek, non-modern bits here and there. Like a giant spray-painted branch I found while on a walk, or the random vintage ceramic bowls tucked in our bookshelves.

I’ve got a life size plaster dog that I picked up at a garage sale. I was going to spray paint it white (or some bright neon color), but after living with the vintage, chipped boxer in our living room for a few weeks, I decided I loved him and I didn’t want to change him. FAB ME… I have a map hanging over our fireplace that took all street, park and building names out of a LA map and replaced them with movie titles (e.g., “Jurassic Park,” “Sunset Boulevard,” etc.). I absolutely love it and it’s a great conversation starter!!!

My favorite, and most unique, piece in my house is a painting of a girl drinking water from her cupped hands. It hung in my mommom’s house when I was growing up, and it simultaneously reminds me of her and my childhood. It doesn’t have the prettiest mat or frame, but I can’t bring myself to change it.

FAB ME! My favorite quirky piece in my home is the handmade/homemade triangle flag bunting my hubby & I made from vintage fabrics for our own d.i.y. wedding reception. We have it strung up around the perimeter of the craft/project room. It’s awesome inspiration to look back & remember how we handcrafted our own big day.
