Fab Freebie: A Literal Fab Freebie

***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***

You guys hit the 10,000 entry cap to giveaway within 24 hours, so you must love some Fab as much as I do (or perhaps you just like $500). Either way, we’ve crowned a random winner and it is… Whitney (who says “Most of my apartment is muted gray, yellow, and blue, but my kitchen has bright red baking dishes on display.”) Congrats Whitney!

I’m a recent addict to Fab (I own more t-shirts from there than I probably should admit). So imagine my reaction when I got an email from them offering to do a – wait for it – $500 Fab gift card giveaway for you guys. Their site includes items marked down between 10-60% from retail prices across just about every category – home, accessories, art, kitchen, pets, kids, clothing, jewelry, etc. And everything is selected with a discriminating-but-not-too-serious design eye. There’s an emphasis on quirky, weird, and colorful items within their sales… which means there’s a lot of fun to be had while spending the five hundred beans that are up for grabs.

Fab Dot Com Giveaway

  • PRIZE: A $500 gift card toward Fab
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “FAB ME!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …what’s something weird, quirky, or colorful in your home that you love? Is it a bold art print in your entryway? An armchair with a happy pattern in your living room? Or several dozen ceramic animals placed throughout your house… not that we’d know anything about that.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, January 30th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: We always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond specific areas (more on that here). This giveaway is open to the United States, Canada, and much of Europe (click here for a specific list of countries)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
  • ***COMMENT ISSUES? If you’re trying to enter but keep getting a “duplicate comment” warning, click here to see how to solve it!

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Fab.

FAB ME! We have an iron pig with wings (he’s about the size of three fists put together). He moves around the house and is given seasonally appropriate ribbons around his neck. Right now, he’s on the hall table. :)

FAB ME! Our first real art purchase was a print called Golden Harvest by a Scottish artist called Monteith. It’s bright, bright yellow and has loads of amazing little animals hiding away in it. We’ve moved to Canada now and it’s hanging on our dining room wall – reminds me of home everytime I see it.

I recently acquired a original painting from my Grandmother, it’s a pretty strange painting of a Matador. As a child I swore it was like the painting from Ghost Busters 2 (with the pink slime and everything), I was terrified of it. But now that I have it I think its a great conversation piece.

I have a fox – a real fox – in my living room! It’s a taxidermied fox. She sits on a table in my living room. Most of the year she just sits there looking pretty, but at Christmas time I put a festive red and gold Christmas ribbon tied into a big bow around her neck like a collar.
How did I come to have a stuffed, real fox in my living room, you ask? Well I live way out here in farm country and would see fox tracks out on the back side of my property in the snow in the winter, in the mud in the spring, and in the sand in the summertime. We also had an orange barn cat that was my youngest son’s favorite kitty. One day as I was pulling out of my driveway to go into town I saw something orange laying dead in the road. Concerned that it was my son’s favorite cat I went over to check. Instead of the cat, I was surprised to see that it was this lovely little foxy-loxy. She had been hit by a car in the night and was quite dead, but she was in perfect shape. So I immediately picked her up, tossed her into the back of my pick-up and drove her directly to the nearest taxidermist, who happens to be a friend. She’s been sitting pretty in my living room ever since.
There are still foxes roaming our neighborhood. I saw a beautiful male last fall while I was sitting in my deer blind. He sat in front of me and groomed himself for several minutes. It was a thrill to watch him!

We have a rooster sprinkler made out of recycled metal construction parts sitting in our living room. Sadly he has not been allowed to spray water since we sold our house, moved across the country, and now live in an apartment, but he was just too awesome to sell with all the other yard supplies. Someday he will sprinkle again, but until then, he hangs out near the tv and guards the cat toy box. :)
