Fab Freebie: A Literal Fab Freebie

***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***

You guys hit the 10,000 entry cap to giveaway within 24 hours, so you must love some Fab as much as I do (or perhaps you just like $500). Either way, we’ve crowned a random winner and it is… Whitney (who says “Most of my apartment is muted gray, yellow, and blue, but my kitchen has bright red baking dishes on display.”) Congrats Whitney!

I’m a recent addict to Fab (I own more t-shirts from there than I probably should admit). So imagine my reaction when I got an email from them offering to do a – wait for it – $500 Fab gift card giveaway for you guys. Their site includes items marked down between 10-60% from retail prices across just about every category – home, accessories, art, kitchen, pets, kids, clothing, jewelry, etc. And everything is selected with a discriminating-but-not-too-serious design eye. There’s an emphasis on quirky, weird, and colorful items within their sales… which means there’s a lot of fun to be had while spending the five hundred beans that are up for grabs.

Fab Dot Com Giveaway

  • PRIZE: A $500 gift card toward Fab
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “FAB ME!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …what’s something weird, quirky, or colorful in your home that you love? Is it a bold art print in your entryway? An armchair with a happy pattern in your living room? Or several dozen ceramic animals placed throughout your house… not that we’d know anything about that.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, January 30th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: We always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond specific areas (more on that here). This giveaway is open to the United States, Canada, and much of Europe (click here for a specific list of countries)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
  • ***COMMENT ISSUES? If you’re trying to enter but keep getting a “duplicate comment” warning, click here to see how to solve it!

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Fab.

FAB ME! I have a large collection (over 20) of Nutcrackers I set out for Christmas each year. My mom & grandmother started giving me ome each every year when I took ballet, and have never stopped. Some people think it’s a weird collection, but I love it!

I also have a large state of Texas map a cut out and hung on cork in our game room. I love to be able to look and see how far apart things our in our great state!

One of my favourite colours in my house would have to be the cranberry walls in my daughter’s room! I took a risk on a dark colour and we LOVE it!

We painted the edges (just the outside edge) of our doors in different neon colors, some are citron yellow and others are coral. It’s such a fun, unexpected pop of color whenever you open a door. :)

FAB ME! I’m a huge fan of this funky chaise lounger we have in our sitting room. It’s a fantastic conversation starter. No one ever sits on it, but they just stare at it and say, “what a cool piece! Does it have a story?!” Yeah, it looks THAT cool.

Hmmmm. Our most quirky item is our apartment itself. We live in a vintage high rise on Chicago’s lakeshore that was built to house actors for a nearby (now not here!) movie studio.

FAB ME! I have a 1970s mushroom stool that is covered in olive-green shag carpet-like material. My mother still has the matching sister stool – that comes in a lovely mustard yellow. My parents bought them at a garage sale 30+ years ago and the the bottom of my stool still says “250 each” which I am really hoping was $2.50.

“FAB ME!” They aren’t in our house just yet… but one fun, bright and quirky thing in our house will be the legs to our kitchen island that my husband and I are currently designing and building. We will installed them in a few weeks when our renovation is at it’s end, but how great will rich, bright YELLOW farmhouse legs be in a classic white and neutral kitchen with shades of blue scattered throughout?!

    FAB ME!

Probably the weirdest thing I have are 8 by 10 prints of beautiful crystal sculptures of different viruses (SARS, HIV and the influenza virus). The sculptures are crystal, so intricate and beautiful, and no one is ever sure of what they are – sounds weird but fits with my epidemiology background.

FAB ME! I painted the two side tables in our living room a happy shade of yellow, and I love them. But probably the quirkiest home decor item currently in my house is the custom drawn “art” from iwanttodrawacatforyou.com (as seen on Shark Tank) that my husband ordered for my birthday. If you haven’t heard about it, basically you write in your order (for mine, my husband wrote “A girl reading in the park with her dog next to her”) and this guy doodles out your order with the main character(s) as cats and sends the original drawing out to you through the mail. It’s completely hilarious and makes me smile whenever I look at it.
