Fab Freebie: A Literal Fab Freebie

***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***

You guys hit the 10,000 entry cap to giveaway within 24 hours, so you must love some Fab as much as I do (or perhaps you just like $500). Either way, we’ve crowned a random winner and it is… Whitney (who says “Most of my apartment is muted gray, yellow, and blue, but my kitchen has bright red baking dishes on display.”) Congrats Whitney!

I’m a recent addict to Fab (I own more t-shirts from there than I probably should admit). So imagine my reaction when I got an email from them offering to do a – wait for it – $500 Fab gift card giveaway for you guys. Their site includes items marked down between 10-60% from retail prices across just about every category – home, accessories, art, kitchen, pets, kids, clothing, jewelry, etc. And everything is selected with a discriminating-but-not-too-serious design eye. There’s an emphasis on quirky, weird, and colorful items within their sales… which means there’s a lot of fun to be had while spending the five hundred beans that are up for grabs.

Fab Dot Com Giveaway

  • PRIZE: A $500 gift card toward Fab
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “FAB ME!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …what’s something weird, quirky, or colorful in your home that you love? Is it a bold art print in your entryway? An armchair with a happy pattern in your living room? Or several dozen ceramic animals placed throughout your house… not that we’d know anything about that.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, January 30th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: We always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond specific areas (more on that here). This giveaway is open to the United States, Canada, and much of Europe (click here for a specific list of countries)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
  • ***COMMENT ISSUES? If you’re trying to enter but keep getting a “duplicate comment” warning, click here to see how to solve it!

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Fab.

Oh man, I’m obsessed with Fab. My favorite quirky items are a pillow I made from an embroidered dishtowel and a tiny framed figurine of a gnome. He’s gold, he’s grumpy, and he cost $3 at an estate sale.

FAB ME! In my previous house, there were only four rooms total, so I decorated each one to represent the seasons. It was fun for a few years, but now its been redecorated to a more subdued pallete.

Fab Me. Weirdest/quirkiest things here are the furries – one cat with the personality of a dog (dog trapped in a cat’s body) and one cat with a recessive gene that makes his tail curl up. Other than that, as a 3rd generation thrifter, it’s pretty eclectic around here across the board.

    FAB ME!

I have a 1950’s chrome pay phone (no booth) that I bought when I was 13 for $100 of my hard earned babysitting money (which was a ton of money). I used it as my primary telephone for years. I’m 45 now and I think it’s one item I’ve owned for the longest that I display in my house. I also have a set of 50 or so 1975 Match Box cars (with boxes!) that I never played with – just collected when I was around 8 years old. I however don’t have these displayed in my house. I’ve always been buying and collecting interesting things! I’m happiest while at a thrift store/flea market/antique store/garage sale/estate sale!

I love my brother’s art school pieces. He gave me three because he just didn’t want to keep them. He doesn’t think he’s good. He’s wrong. They’re amazing. I cry when I think about them for too long. In Fab related news, I love my Keith Haring tote bag. It is just the right mix of fun and culture.

I have a hippo that I found at HomeGoods. It’s black and weighs a ton (maybe it’s a sort of stone?) but it’s in a sleek, modern style. It lives on the TV console, practically blends in, but is sassy and waiting to be noticed.

I have a poster from a mask shop in Venice and if you look at it closely enough, you find a woman who is, strangely enough, missing the top portion of her dress. I’d say only 10% of the people who glance at it notice that part of the picture!

    FAB ME!

While I share the white ceramic animal fetish, my favorite quirky thing in our house currently are the paintings I made for our living room and bedroom. Both are big – 3 paintings per room, each about 2′ wide by 3′ tall – and ombre. The set in the living room goes from light, leafy green to nearly black and is a big shot of color into our grey living room. The bedroom one is shades of grey (please note, I painted it long before the book existed) and is a peaceful thing to drift off to each night.
Thanks for hosting! Love all your DIY’s!
