Fab Freebie: A Literal Fab Freebie

You guys hit the 10,000 entry cap to giveaway within 24 hours, so you must love some Fab as much as I do (or perhaps you just like $500). Either way, we’ve crowned a random winner and it is… Whitney (who says “Most of my apartment is muted gray, yellow, and blue, but my kitchen has bright red baking dishes on display.”) Congrats Whitney!

I’m a recent addict to Fab (I own more t-shirts from there than I probably should admit). So imagine my reaction when I got an email from them offering to do a – wait for it – $500 Fab gift card giveaway for you guys. Their site includes items marked down between 10-60% from retail prices across just about every category – home, accessories, art, kitchen, pets, kids, clothing, jewelry, etc. And everything is selected with a discriminating-but-not-too-serious design eye. There’s an emphasis on quirky, weird, and colorful items within their sales… which means there’s a lot of fun to be had while spending the five hundred beans that are up for grabs.

    FAB ME!! We have a colorful gallery wall with a giant poster in the middle that says “HEAPS & HEAPS” which is an inside saying between my husband and I (he’s Australian).

    The “weirdest” color in my house is actually on the living room walls. It’s called Celebrate by CIL. It is like a coral meets orangey meets cheerful color. I picked it because that room didn’t get too much natural light and I wanted something to brighten it up. 2 years later..it’s one of the few colors that I wouldn’t change!!

    FAB ME! The dresser in our bedroom is a bold mustard with teal knobs with a coral and grey rug in front. A colorful corner that takes away from the stark white walls of a rental!

    Fab me! My husband and I also went to Alaska on our honeymoon, but we did a cruise (wish we’d had enough vacation time to do a longer backpacking-type trip!). They auctioned off the nautical map they used during the trip, and we won it! Figured it would be a pretty good souvenir!

    I am a HUGE fan of color so I don’t think there is one item I can pick. If I had to, I would say my secondhand side table that I painted a pretty citron greenish color!

    FAB ME! Most colorful would go to our turquoise stools. Quirkiest would be our dog silohuettes framed in gold!

    I have a navy blue wall in our bonus room. It’s the boldest thing I’ve ever painted on a wall and we LOVE it.

    Fab me! We have a painting of a plane crash from my husband’s friend. I tell people it’s our ode to LOST, but it was painted way before the show started.

    FAB ME!

    One of our quirks is that we sneak our art projects from childhood into the art displayed in the house. It’s silly but pretty sweet to see the ceramic pinchpot that your spouse made in summer camp, or the watercolor that you were so proud of in second grade.

    I have a transom from a row house hanging in my living room. I love the stained glass (various shades of green) and everyone asks if there’s any significance to the number painted in the middle (nope, but the rampant speculation is fun!).

    The most quirky thing in my house right now is a giant Minnie Mouse balloon from my daughters 3rd birthday, that is still floating after 1 month.

    We have a Teddy Ruxpin who sits on the mantle in our bedroom – he still plays tapes, too! When our cat had a litter of 3 precious kittens, one of them took a particular liking to the tape-playing bear, so we named him Teddy!

    FAB ME!!!!
    My faves in my home are probably my assortment of jars. I buy anything in a cool jar or glass bottle, peel the label and decorate around my home. Some are painted and some stay clear. Also my collection of bird pillows. I definitely have more than one.

    FAB ME! We have a quirky photo-wall collage that includes an Indionesian door knocker found at a yard sale. It consists of a little man that has a huuuge belly; we call him Al :)

    Fab Me!
    Our most colorful things are a huge collection of books (we’re talking 8 full bookcases) and a quite large collection of “action figures” (can’t call them toys or dolls!). :)
