Fab Freebie: April Tools

***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***

Well the lucky April fool, er, person who’s getting the $500 gift card to the home improvement store of their choosing  – all thanks to Hometalk! – is… Rebecca (who says she and her husband really need a router table to change out some non-functional kitchen cabinets). Congrats!

Nope, this isn’t a joke. Someone somewhere in the world is gonna win $500 this week, and it’s all thanks to Hometalk. It’s a free community where DIYers and pros can exchange projects and advice, which makes it a great spot to discover new ideas (everything from major remodels to easy cleaning tips pop up). The photo-centric boards make browsing for inspiration a breeze and connecting with the creator is just as easy. And since Hometalk is all about helping you tackle our next project, they want to give you the right tools – which is why they’re serving up a $500 gift card to your favorite home improvement store (be it Home Depot, Lowe’s, Sears or something else). Not a bad way to ring in April, right?

    TOOL ME!
I am in the middle of a kitchen/dining room/living room remodel on my 1950’s lake home. It is going to be gorgeous, but we could really use a nail gun and perhaps a table saw. We are installing bamboo flooring throughout, we’ve knocked down walls to make it one large space, painting cabinets, bead board, open shelving, etc. We really wanted to take advantage of our gorgeous view of the lake as soon as you walked into the house. We are just finishing up drywall and moving kitchen cabinets and getting ready for to install the new floor. Three layers of laminate removed!

Tool Me! We would love to have a set of tools necessary for removing and re-tiling our bathroom. It would be quite a luxury, but we’d also love an extra drill since we are usually tackling a project together; having one drill with drill bits and one drill to drive in screws would sure speed things along and increase our efficiency. The extra drill is sounding better and better since our baby was born and we now try to tackle projects in two-hour nap increments. :)

I’ve found Overstock.com carries a wide variety of slip covers. We just purchased a SureFit cover for $99 and it made the couch look brand new. The kids couldn’t believe it was the same couch.

    Tool me!!!

I am looking forward to painting my kitchen and master bedroom! We have been living in our house for 5 years now and have painted every other room except for those ones! After I buy paint, I plan on purchasing yard equipment…We have huge bushes in our yard that seriously need trimmed down. Instead of borrowing our parents trimmer, we’ll purchase our own!!!

If I had to choose one tool to help with the renovations, I would probably choose a sliding compound saw for use with replacing moulding and trim. And future crown moulding installation.
