Fab Freebie: Bamboo-tiful

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

Who knew bamboo could be so beautiful? Well actually, the people behind Smock Paper did. They also know that bamboo is one of the most earth-friendly sources of paper out there. By relying on it, along with other recycled materials, and by incorporating other green practices into their shop, Smock Paper is truly a wonderfully sustainable operational located right here in the good ol’ US of A. Oh, and of course they make very pretty things.

Smock Cards

You may have already heard of Smock Paper from our monthly sponsor shout outs, and if so you probably remember them for their stunning letterpress greeting cards, party and wedding invites, and the like. Well they’re here this week to give one of you a sweet $100 shopping spree while introducing some new products to amp up your note-taking, gift-giving, and memo-jotting adventures.

Smock Jotters

Just like all of their other products, these colorful items come with an eco-tastic spin. Like the memo pad above whose letterpressed bamboo cover protects 90 sheets of 100% post-consumer recycled paper. Or the cube of 700 sticky notes below that also comes from recycled paper.

Smock Memos

While those items could dress up your office nicely, they’ve also got graphic beauties like double-sided wrapping paper, gift bags and even gift boxes that all boast punchy designs on recycled materials that would certainly dress up your next gift or look great in your home office.

Smock Boxes

Now let’s get on to how you can enter to win:

  • PRIZE: $100 towards anything on Smock Paper’s website
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “BAMBOO ME” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …since Smock makes items to help you keep notes, why not share your current note-keeping habit with us. Do you keep a pad on your desk to jot down phone numbers or random thoughts? Do you keep some scrap paper in your purse just in case? Or are you high tech and rely on a voice recorder or phone app to help you remember stuff?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, September 1st at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States AND Canada!
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck…

Bamboo Me!! When it comes to taking notes, I am strictly a low tech girl. I keep a magnet backed pad on my refrigerator for grocery lists and phone messages and travel with a small notebook to jot things down when I have the need or the inclination.

I have a big fat notepad that sits on my desk (both at home and at the office), but for some reason I can NEVER find a piece of paper in my purse when I need it.

I am not very organized at home, papers strewed everywhere! Can’t find a pen to save my life! At work is another matter, I have pens galore, but only a few are my favorites! I have several different size yellow sticky pads with numerous little scribbles on it. Some I find months later and wonder what I was talking about! it is really funny how different I am at home and at work!

I typically use my iPhone for things I need to remember and things I hear when I’m at school that I am curious (or have no idea) about and want to look up later. I also have a planner that I keep with me constantly – it keeps me the straightest. :)

BAMBOO ME! I’m a note taking junkie and would love to win this giveaway. I keep a magnetic note pad on the fridge for our never ending grocery list, I keep a daily planner in the diaper bag to keep track of our busy schedule, a notepad by the computer for random “to do” reminders, a journal for my fitness journey/weight watchers daily recording, and a separate prayer journal on the night stand. They all get used daily!

I keep a note pad by the computer and in the living room next to the phone. The one by the phone is so MOM (76 yrs) can write down messages if me or Dad are not here , seldom are we both gone but it does occasionly.
I keep one in my room to jot down, ‘get at store’ ‘ask Dr about’ ‘ need to take care this…’ items.

I have found that what works for me is having ONE notebook that I have nicknamed my “Life Notebook.” I keep every random thing in it from names of restaurants to try, to my “to do” lists, to random notes, schedules, print outs of things I want to buy, etc. Whenever I need something I know just where to find it. No more, “hmmm, where did I put that??”

I have a moleskine i keep in my purse and just write random notes and lists in. Despite my desire for notebooks to typically carry info from teh same “genre” of life, the moleskine makes me feel okay to have mismatched notes and to do lists because the black seems to pull it all together in my mind…

BAMBOO ME! I have used the same leather portfolio since college for lists and notes. It still looks great. It holds a legal pad on one side and has a pocket on the other for articles I’ve clipped or DIY ideas and recipes I’ve printed. It closes flat (so very portable and convenient) and it always makes me look and feel a little more put-together when I take it to meetings or even the grocery store.

P.S.: I love Smock Paper and have been planning to buy the koi fish card to frame for my daughter’s nursery. It matches the color scheme perfectly!

I’ve always been a really organized person – I have lists all over for everything: on the fridge is a runnin grocery list, I make a to-do list every night before I go to bed and transfer everything I don’t get done into my calendar. I have a running schedule, an errands schedule, a birthday schedule…Sometimes I think I’ve got too many lists really…but better too many than none!

I love notes and note-taking materials of all kinds, but my favorite would have to be my “everything” notebook. I start a new one each fall and keep all random meeting notes, observations, newspaper clippings, drawings, etc. in it. I like it for two reasons. One, it ends up being a “journal” of sorts, of my year. Two, I don’t lose anything! It’s all in the notebook!

I really need to reduce my paper footprint by using recycled notepads. Since I was 16, I’ve kept a ‘commuting’ journal for the bus and a home journal, well, for when I’m at home. I also keep a small pad by my bed for writing down weird dreams and things I need to add to the grocery list. Mad cravings late at night :-)

I like to consider myself an organized individual, but after getting married and starting med school all in the last 6 weeks that has gone down the drain. I usually have my moleskin appointment book for notes, but I don’t actually know where that ended up and now I’ve taken to using whatever paper is in front of me. Terrible, I know.

I usually use any scraps I can find to make lists. I often lose the lists though, like my Lowes one for today, so I probably should rethink the system. Using scraps of paper is earth friendly so that works- I just need to not lose them. I found the Lowes list after I returned from the store.
