Fab Freebie: Christmas Lights

This week’s early Christmas present is going to… Nancy (who says she “could certainly use some new lighting” and her favorite holiday glow “has to be my fireplace.”) Congrats Nancy!

As much as we love holiday lights, indoor lighting is something that you stare at every day of the year. So if you don’t love your lighting situation, this is one way to “dude, get on that” without spending any cash. See, recently we were voted one of Lamps Plus’ top home blogs of 2012 (how flattering!) and it came with a $500 shopping spree prize… but you know we don’t take freebies or swag, so the folks at Lamps Plus kindly agreed that we could pass that $500 credit to one of you! We’ve been fans of theirs for a while now since they seem to have about a million options (their chandeliers even popped up in our book a few times) so this week’s winner should have no trouble finding something to spend their light-loot on if they win.

    LAMP ME!

    I love the bigger multi-color LED lights we have on our Christmas tree. Sitting in the dark with just the light of the Christmas tree is one of my favorite things to do during the holidays.

    Lamp Me

    When I was little, my mom used to lace our tree with what we called bubble lights. I don’t know if that is the proper name or not but they were tiny little lamps with colored bottoms that when they heated up, caused little bubbles to rise in the top cylinder. As a child, I always thought they were so magical. In time they broke and after a few years my mom (who I swear always dresses the best tree) found these amazing carnival style lights, like the kind you’d see on rides at the fair. So really, its not Christmas unless there some twinkle :D

    LAMP ME!!! I can not get enough of our Christmas tree, I would totally act like I’m a kid again just lay under it looking up at the lights, but our dog kinda marked under the tree as his turf:)

    I happen to love the twinkling lights of our Christmas tree & the window lights we get to fall asleep to this time of year!

    LAMP ME!

    No matter what, I put welcome lamps in the windows. I tried the battery operated kind but they weren’t bright and welcoming enough, so I went back to the electric lamps and all the timers that I chase for a few weeks to get in sync!

    My favorite lights are definitely simple white holiday lights with white cords. Never too many of those up around the house at Christmas time!

    LAMP ME! The outside of our house is lit with “cool” LEDs. Its brighter than a used car dealership but our son loves it!

    LAMP ME!

    My favorite type of holiday light is ANY holiday light. A glowing white christmas tree in the corner of a dark room. A yummy smelling candle. A neighborhood full of colorful and bright lights. And of course a crackling fire to keep me toasty!

    Lamp me! I love it when the fireplace is on, but we haven’t had ours cleaned since we moved in and I’m not sure it’s safe to use ours.

    Lamp Me! Simple white lights are my favorite. Every year I debate whether I can get away with leaving my lights up all year instead of using my regular lights!
