Fab Freebie: Christmas Lights

This week’s early Christmas present is going to… Nancy (who says she “could certainly use some new lighting” and her favorite holiday glow “has to be my fireplace.”) Congrats Nancy!

As much as we love holiday lights, indoor lighting is something that you stare at every day of the year. So if you don’t love your lighting situation, this is one way to “dude, get on that” without spending any cash. See, recently we were voted one of Lamps Plus’ top home blogs of 2012 (how flattering!) and it came with a $500 shopping spree prize… but you know we don’t take freebies or swag, so the folks at Lamps Plus kindly agreed that we could pass that $500 credit to one of you! We’ve been fans of theirs for a while now since they seem to have about a million options (their chandeliers even popped up in our book a few times) so this week’s winner should have no trouble finding something to spend their light-loot on if they win.

    Lamp me!
    I love the 80’s multicolored lights I had when I was growing up, complete with tinsel! Haha, now we have small white lights on our tree that I love too.

    I love a house decked out in white lights! We have a mix of colored and white lights on our tree but I prefer white only

    I love the candlelight service on Christmas Eve, where everyone is singing carols lit only by 100s of tiny candles.

    LAMP ME! Please!

    My favorite holiday lights are the lights on my German Christmas pyramids, which make the center platform move around. My mom came from Germany to the United States when she was 17-18, and we have always had at least one pyramid (now she has 5 and I have 3). We are a little picky and ours come from the more-authentic (and more expensive) Erzgebirge region, which is where my grandmother grew up.

    LAMP ME!!

    I love the look of white christmas lights in the window from the inside. In fact, I’m sitting here now in my bedroom with all the lights out and the christmas lights turned on. It’s just magical and comforting.

    LAMP ME! I love traditional white lights on the Christmas tree, but as I get older I love the bright colored lights outside. So cheery!

    LAMP ME! I love looking at lights displays! We have a neighborhood that all wraps their trees like candy canes and it’s gorgeous!

    My favorite kind of holiday light are the battery operated, tiny fairy LED lights that go well on very small Christmas trees; great to use for a center piece on a dining table!

    Lamp me! I love turning all of the lights off in the house and just having the Christmas tree lights on and the fireplace going. So cozy!

    LAMP ME! I love all of the over the top, extravagant houses with their 10,000 lights and full yard of blow up statues! I don’t have nearly enough patience/creativity to pull something like that off, but I do like to drive the kids by and admire. As far as our home goes, we do simple and clean white lights are perfectly in a row and all facing the same direction….mostly because my husband is anal and to have a bulb in a different direction might make him lose his mind!!

    Lamp me – I wouldn’t do it at my house, but I like driving around to see the over-the-top decorations at other houses.

    Lamp me…I used to do all white lights on my tree with maybe a couple of single-color strands mixed in, but this year we went a little crazy and did multicolored lights. I like both now!
