Fab Freebie: Christmas Lights

This week’s early Christmas present is going to… Nancy (who says she “could certainly use some new lighting” and her favorite holiday glow “has to be my fireplace.”) Congrats Nancy!

As much as we love holiday lights, indoor lighting is something that you stare at every day of the year. So if you don’t love your lighting situation, this is one way to “dude, get on that” without spending any cash. See, recently we were voted one of Lamps Plus’ top home blogs of 2012 (how flattering!) and it came with a $500 shopping spree prize… but you know we don’t take freebies or swag, so the folks at Lamps Plus kindly agreed that we could pass that $500 credit to one of you! We’ve been fans of theirs for a while now since they seem to have about a million options (their chandeliers even popped up in our book a few times) so this week’s winner should have no trouble finding something to spend their light-loot on if they win.

    My fab are candles in every window in either blue or white! Especially love them in y house where every one is on a timer so I get to come home to them a glow!

    My favorite holiday light is definitely the twinkle of the Christmas tree, with all of the other lights off in the house there is just nothing as peaceful as Christmas music and a sparkling Christmas tree!

    LAMP ME! There is something magical to me about sitting quietly under the glow of a Christmas tree. Sneaking downstairs to just watch the tree lights fade on and off is one of my fondest memories.

    LAMP ME! I am a Christmas fanatic….I love the soft glow of white lights on a big ole Christmas tree inside, tasteful white lights adorning the outside of the house and acwarm crackling fire in the fireplace!

    Lamp me!

    My husband and I love our white Christmas lights on the tree and draped over our front door with some greenery. Although I’m sure if we had a fireplace that would be the winner.

    LAMP ME!! I love the look of electric Christmas candles in the window. It’s originally an Irish tradition – leaving a light for Mary & Joseph – so that they knew there was room for them at the inn.

    LAMP ME! My favorite holiday lights are the ones I see on little shacks in the middle of nowhere driving around in rural Texas. I drive a lot for work (in TX) and I see so many little spots that I think, “Wow, what do these people do here? How can they stand it?” and then at Christmas time, they’ve strung up cheerful lights. It’s so encouraging and eye-opening. We get used to all the conveniences and comforts of what money can buy when a few little Christmas lights might be all it takes.

    LAMP ME!!! I love the traditional glow of white lights on my tree, with no other lights on! Makes for a relaxing evening!
