Fab Freebie: Christmas Lights

This week’s early Christmas present is going to… Nancy (who says she “could certainly use some new lighting” and her favorite holiday glow “has to be my fireplace.”) Congrats Nancy!

As much as we love holiday lights, indoor lighting is something that you stare at every day of the year. So if you don’t love your lighting situation, this is one way to “dude, get on that” without spending any cash. See, recently we were voted one of Lamps Plus’ top home blogs of 2012 (how flattering!) and it came with a $500 shopping spree prize… but you know we don’t take freebies or swag, so the folks at Lamps Plus kindly agreed that we could pass that $500 credit to one of you! We’ve been fans of theirs for a while now since they seem to have about a million options (their chandeliers even popped up in our book a few times) so this week’s winner should have no trouble finding something to spend their light-loot on if they win.

    LAMP ME!

    I was just commenting to my husband the other night before we started putting ornaments on the tree how I just love the simplicity of lots of white lights on a tree. I almost didn’t feel like I had to decorate further. It’s just beautiful.

    I just spent a weekend draging my best friend through several stores looking at Kitchen lights and then I see this post. Did you guys hear her cry for help? I love the white lights and the solid intense LED colors. Mostly I just love any light I don’t have to put up.

    LAMP ME! My favorite light used to be the fire in the fireplace, but since having kids, I love their excitement at the lights on the tree, wreath, post light, everything!

    “Lamp Me” I love the white mini lights (not LED) that have settings that fade off and on. It is so serene ……and thus makes me pause and reflect

    I’ve always loved warm white lights, but lately I’ve had a hankering for some oversized, kitschy, colored bulbs. Maybe it’s the 1960s house we bought trying to get back to its roots!

    I love just sitting by the light of the tree. I put solid white lights on the inside of the tree to light it up & colored blinky lights on the outside so that it has some movement

    I love the over the top,every color imaginable decorated house. It is such a joy to go out this time of year and search for the most decorated house. The kids love it and so do I.

    I love classic white Christmas lights – we decorate our tree with them and do a minimal display outside, but it looks so classic and I love it!

    LAMP ME! I love those light balls you hang from the trees – there are several streets in our city where all the neighbors get together and hang them everywhere – it’s like a Christmas wonderland driving down the street at night

    LAMP ME! I planned to buy an artificial tree with white lights because I thought they were classy, but when I got it to the car, I realized that I accidently bought one with colored lights. I was too lazy to lug it back into the store, so I decided to bring it home and have my husband deal with it :) However, by the time I got home, I decided to live with it, and I love it. We don’t have any theme to our tree- we both have our Christmas ornaments from childhoods, plus ornaments that we have gotten as a couple from friends and family, plus we buy a special ornament each year to commemorate a trip or experience. The tree is so fun and imperfect, and it makes me smile every time I see it!

    LAMP ME! I love white lights on a Christmas tree. Colorful lights are fun, too, but there’s just nothing as elegant and warm as an all-white lit tree!

    Lamp me!!
    I am a huge fan of all white Christmas lights, but I think I’m going to mix it up for next year. Since most of our ornaments are gold and silver with a few red pops, I thought adding in some red lights on the tree might be fun. But I’ll wait until they are all on clearance and just pick up a few for next season :)

    LAMP ME! I love the twinkle of lights on the outsides of homes at Christmas! I love driving around after dark and just looking at the pretty lights.

    Lamp me please! I like little white lights, but my husband likes those big multi colored lights….so we have an agreement and alternate years. It’s his turn this year.
