As much as we love holiday lights, indoor lighting is something that you stare at every day of the year. So if you don’t love your lighting situation, this is one way to “dude, get on that” without spending any cash. See, recently we were voted one of Lamps Plus’ top home blogs of 2012 (how flattering!) and it came with a $500 shopping spree prize… but you know we don’t take freebies or swag, so the folks at Lamps Plus kindly agreed that we could pass that $500 credit to one of you! We’ve been fans of theirs for a while now since they seem to have about a million options (their chandeliers even popped up in our book a few times) so this week’s winner should have no trouble finding something to spend their light-loot on if they win.

I like a fire in the living room fireplace; however being in an apt in DC, I don’t have a fireplace. So, my favorite tree lights are the colored kind because we always had that kind at my house as a child.

When my baby was born last December, we left the tree lights on all day long (LEDs of course) as our round-the-clock nursing and baby-attending lights. It was soooo warm and comforting.

LAMP ME! We have white lights on our tree, but my best friend growing up had colored lights shaped kind of like candles, and there was liquid inside that bubbled. Together with their revolving Christmas tree, it was pretty awesome!

I like white Christmas lights, no blinking please. But we don’t have them in our house. We entwined them around our banister in our new house when we first moved in and our two cats promptly started gnawing on the little blulbs! We had to take them down and haven’t figured out where to put them out of reach of our feline menaces.
