Fab Freebie: Christmas Lights

This week’s early Christmas present is going to… Nancy (who says she “could certainly use some new lighting” and her favorite holiday glow “has to be my fireplace.”) Congrats Nancy!

As much as we love holiday lights, indoor lighting is something that you stare at every day of the year. So if you don’t love your lighting situation, this is one way to “dude, get on that” without spending any cash. See, recently we were voted one of Lamps Plus’ top home blogs of 2012 (how flattering!) and it came with a $500 shopping spree prize… but you know we don’t take freebies or swag, so the folks at Lamps Plus kindly agreed that we could pass that $500 credit to one of you! We’ve been fans of theirs for a while now since they seem to have about a million options (their chandeliers even popped up in our book a few times) so this week’s winner should have no trouble finding something to spend their light-loot on if they win.

    I love all holiday lights. Decorations on houses, lining the streets of our town, or just sitting at home in the dark with the glow of the lights from the Christmas tree.

    I love the newfangled LEDs. We did our tree in blue LEDs with all silver ornaments, and it looks so cold and frosty! Love it.

    LAMP ME!
    I’m a sucker for the tree lights. When I was younger, I made a point of sleeping out on the living room couch a few times each Christmas season so that I could sleep with the Christmas tree all lit up. Maybe it’s time to reinstate that tradition!

    My favorite is the white glow of lights on a tree as seen from outside a home, just sparkling through an open window. This is my favorite sight of all.

    Lamp me! Growing up we had a christmas tree that cycled the lights. I loved coming home to a lite tree when it was dark outside.

    LAMP ME! My favorite holiday light is the “A Christmas Story” leg lamp nightlight that I got for my husband a few years back. She chills out in our kitchen during the holidays like a lonely Rockette ready to spring into action at any moment! :)

    LAMP ME! I personally love garlands with white lights wrapped around the stair banisters. It just brings out a nice soft glow throughout the foyer and the living room. I just glow with happiness and warmth whenever that is turned on at night and we’re ready to settle in and relax. My next favorite is a fireplace. I don’t currently have it but hopefully our next home will!

    My favorite is the glow of the white lights of our Christmas tree. I love to turn off all the other lights in the house and just sit by the tree.

    LAMP ME! I’m saddened by the shift over to LED lights. I am all for energy efficiency, but I find them to be TOO vibrant, the blue is almost blinding. So I suppose I will hoard my precious strings of “normal” Christmas lights as long as possible–I love the soft yellow glow of traditional “white” Christmas lights.

    LAMP ME! I love white lights on the tree, mantel and the staircase banister. Love, love, love to turn only those lights on with the fireplace going, a little Christmas music…Ah….

    LAMP ME!! I love simple white lights lining the outside of the home. This year, I forgot to wear gloves when putting ours up and ended up with some pretty sweet shingle/fiberglass splinters.
