Fab Freebie: Christmas Lights

This week’s early Christmas present is going to… Nancy (who says she “could certainly use some new lighting” and her favorite holiday glow “has to be my fireplace.”) Congrats Nancy!

As much as we love holiday lights, indoor lighting is something that you stare at every day of the year. So if you don’t love your lighting situation, this is one way to “dude, get on that” without spending any cash. See, recently we were voted one of Lamps Plus’ top home blogs of 2012 (how flattering!) and it came with a $500 shopping spree prize… but you know we don’t take freebies or swag, so the folks at Lamps Plus kindly agreed that we could pass that $500 credit to one of you! We’ve been fans of theirs for a while now since they seem to have about a million options (their chandeliers even popped up in our book a few times) so this week’s winner should have no trouble finding something to spend their light-loot on if they win.

    LAMP ME! I love when white lights are strung around trees and they look like they’re floating. Especially love it when there are hundreds of trees lit up.

    It’s probably a tie between lights on the tree (white twinklers, not blinkers or regular ones in any other color) and a good fire. Preferably both!

    Lamp me! I love the walk/drive through displays – bundled up in cute coats and hats + hot cocoa + Christmas lights = my idea of a good time. Plus, nothing makes me feel warmer or fuzzier than walking in to our house to nothing by my happy dog and the soft glow of the Christmas tree :)

    In order to make up for the tacky lights outside the house, my husband let’s me put all white on the tree.

    LAMP ME!

    I love driving home down my street at night and seeing the lights on (and in) all the neighbors’ houses – and mine. In the midst of the “busy-ness” (which I also love), it fills me with peace and nostalgia and thankfulness… I love this time of year!

    We have white lights on our tree and small colored lights around our windows, and I definitely prefer the latter. It’s the only time of year it doesn’t seem wacky to have multicolored lights strewn about the house, and I embrace it!

    Lamp Me! I love the super fat, glass, multi-colored fire starter lights that used to exist. They’re not really around anymore, but as a kid I kinda LOVED just laying under the tree and staring up at the lights. I also would hum the five notes from Close Encounters of a Third Kind because that’s what it reminded me of. I was a weird kid.

    I love warm white lights on a tree. We love lighting a fire and turning off all the lights but the tree at night. So cozy and Christmasy!

    Lamp me! This year, my favs are the huge colored LED’s we strung on a branch mobile in our son’s room. He stares at them, mesmerized.

    Lamp Me! I love simple white lights on the tree, my husband loves multi color lights. I usually do two trees one each way. Win, win. Merry Christmas!

    LAMP ME!

    I love passing by houses that are obnoxiously lit (Lampoon-style) but for my own home I prefer the old school large bulb lights outside in a single straight line as well as a tree lit with softer lights. This year we have a long row of red bulbs outside lining the gutter and a tree with orange lights and a big bright star. We had LED minis on the tree but found that it drowned out all of the ornaments. Happy Holidays :)

    LAMP ME! Well, this is a sweet thing my Christmas loving 5 year old told me the other night. That “It’s upsetting that Christmas comes and goes so quickly. I wish the world would stay decorated all year!” We love any and all lights in our house…but, I think our favorite is our own tree.
