Fab Freebie: Christmas Lights

This week’s early Christmas present is going to… Nancy (who says she “could certainly use some new lighting” and her favorite holiday glow “has to be my fireplace.”) Congrats Nancy!

As much as we love holiday lights, indoor lighting is something that you stare at every day of the year. So if you don’t love your lighting situation, this is one way to “dude, get on that” without spending any cash. See, recently we were voted one of Lamps Plus’ top home blogs of 2012 (how flattering!) and it came with a $500 shopping spree prize… but you know we don’t take freebies or swag, so the folks at Lamps Plus kindly agreed that we could pass that $500 credit to one of you! We’ve been fans of theirs for a while now since they seem to have about a million options (their chandeliers even popped up in our book a few times) so this week’s winner should have no trouble finding something to spend their light-loot on if they win.

    LAMP ME!

    We have a set of fading/changing lights that my Grandpa and Uncle built. They made a switch box, one for each cousin, and when you plug four different colors in, they fade in and out in different color combinations. It really is amazing! :)

    I really like our icicle lights around our roof that Hubs puts up every year. He adores doing it, and I like the look. So, win-win!

    LAMP ME! My favorite holiday lights are the white lights on my Christmas Tree. It just makes our living room feel warm and cozy and all my ornaments look sparkly and gorgeous. I wish I could leave it up year round.

    i love the warm glow from our Christmas tree. Our cat seems to love it too, he sleeps under there all month!

    My favorite holiday lights are from our family’s menorah–made by my son in preschool last year–out of a long piece of wood and hardware store nuts!

    LAMP ME!

    I love them all. I like it when the people one street over go all out in a blinking extravaganza (so I can enjoy from a distance). I like the colored lights on the christmas tree reflected in the window. No fireplaces in my life, but a cozy fireplace does sound like heaven right now, as I site typing in front of a drafty window!

    I love to see the Christmas lights on all of the homes as I drive around – I just don’t like to pay the electric bill for an over the top display myself!

    LAMP ME! I love the lights of our Christmas tree at night (with all the other lights in the house turned off.) And the tree has to have white lights — no colors for this house! :)

    Love white lights on the tree and garland inside. No blinking though! Would love a fire crackling, but haven’t figured out who to call to make sure my chimney is safe. Since I’m in Texas, there hasn’t been much of a need yet…seeing as it’s Dec. 17 & 66 degrees!!! Thank you for the opportunity!

    LAMP ME!

    I live close to a huge lights display that opens right around Thanksgiving and stays up through new years. Thousands of colored and white lights are strung throughout a wooded area. These are my favorite lights, and I drive my kids through there as much as possible!

    LAMP ME! My favorite holiday light is a home or street lined with luminary bags. Special family friends lived in a neighborhood that participated in this tradition every year and it was magical!
