Fab Freebie: Christmas Lights

This week’s early Christmas present is going to… Nancy (who says she “could certainly use some new lighting” and her favorite holiday glow “has to be my fireplace.”) Congrats Nancy!

As much as we love holiday lights, indoor lighting is something that you stare at every day of the year. So if you don’t love your lighting situation, this is one way to “dude, get on that” without spending any cash. See, recently we were voted one of Lamps Plus’ top home blogs of 2012 (how flattering!) and it came with a $500 shopping spree prize… but you know we don’t take freebies or swag, so the folks at Lamps Plus kindly agreed that we could pass that $500 credit to one of you! We’ve been fans of theirs for a while now since they seem to have about a million options (their chandeliers even popped up in our book a few times) so this week’s winner should have no trouble finding something to spend their light-loot on if they win.

    I love the vintage candles. My mom always puts colored bulbs in them, usually blinking ones! She gave me one of my own when I moved out.

    LAMP ME!

    So I love the pre-strung lights on our tree. The timer allows for it to slowly switch lights on and off so that half the ligts are always on but it slowly switches. But…I’m thinking with a $500 credit, I could enjoy a moravian star light fixture these holidays in our foyer to greet guests :)

    LAMP ME!!!

    I have always loved white lights and was so excited to decorate everything “just so” when my hubby and I got married…now, 6 years later, we have a tree with colored lights and heirloom ornaments that he grew up with. Kids change everything! They love the color, and I have to admit, the family ornaments have so many memories.

    Love it when the house is all cleaned up and the lights are off. The Christmas lights and warm fire glow are the best!!

    I LOVE little white lights on a Christmas tree filled with colorful ornaments — so classic! And I’m a sucker for yummy smelling holiday candles creating a soft glow around the house (cinnamon, pumpkin.. you name it, I have it!).

    LAMP ME!

    My favorite holiday light source is the soft glow of the Christmas tree full of mini colored lights. When the rest of the house’s lights are turned off, it’s so magical. Reminds me of Christmas as a child. :)

    LAMP ME! My favorite set of lights this time of year would have to be the glow coming from our trees! We have the kids tree twinkling in red this year and our family tree is a-glow in white!

    LAMP ME! I love the light of a fire in the fireplace. I have a wood stove so you can’t see it and I love when you can in other people’s fireplaces.

    I like the bare deciduous trees with white or blue lights strung around the branches. Seattle’s trees downtown have these and they’re beautiful!

    I recently tied a bunch of cut up ribbon onto a strand of xmas lights and hung them on my wall in the living room. I’m loving it! makes the room seem so cozy!

    Lamp Me!

    The glow of a crackling fire in the fireplace is so lovely. Unfortunately our fireplace is covered up due to the poor layout of our apartment. :(

    LAMP ME! My favorite holiday lights are the bright white led lights that cast a beautiful glow around the room when put on our christmas tree. I love turning off all of the lights and just having the tree lit up.

    I love people who rock tacit outdoor displays. Nothing makes me happier than a Santa being pulled in a sleigh by Christmas Flamingos.

    “LAMP ME!”
    Okay so in terms of holiday lights, I am a purist. All white lights all the time. I love the bright crisp light. I do love colorful lights in every hue when out driving with my kids because that’s what they love, but for me it’s all white lights.

    But, when you mentioned fireplace, that’s it for sure. I adore a crackling fire, a Christmas movie, and my kids all snuggled in. The best for sure.
