Fab Freebie: Christmas Lights

This week’s early Christmas present is going to… Nancy (who says she “could certainly use some new lighting” and her favorite holiday glow “has to be my fireplace.”) Congrats Nancy!

As much as we love holiday lights, indoor lighting is something that you stare at every day of the year. So if you don’t love your lighting situation, this is one way to “dude, get on that” without spending any cash. See, recently we were voted one of Lamps Plus’ top home blogs of 2012 (how flattering!) and it came with a $500 shopping spree prize… but you know we don’t take freebies or swag, so the folks at Lamps Plus kindly agreed that we could pass that $500 credit to one of you! We’ve been fans of theirs for a while now since they seem to have about a million options (their chandeliers even popped up in our book a few times) so this week’s winner should have no trouble finding something to spend their light-loot on if they win.

    I love the lights of a Christmas tree. And now that I have a son, seeing him stare at the tree in delight makes it all the more beautiful.

    LAMP ME! I love the glow of the fireplace. I live in south Florida now and we just bought a house with a fireplace. It just feels more like Christmas.

    Lamp Me!

    I’m a sucker for the old fashioned, big lights that are multi-colored. The ones that would get so hot they’d burn your fingers?! It’s amazing we didn’t burn the house down!

    … my favorite in my own home is just little white lights on a tall fir tree, but my secret favorite is an all-out Griswold house!

    Can’t stand colored lights on the tree! Our whole family switched to the beautiful little while ones a few years back.

    I love classic white twinkle lights on a tree, and bright multi-colored lights on the outside of the house! And candles, candles, candles!

    LAMP ME! My favorite kind of Christmas lights are bubble lights for the tree. My family has been using them since I was a kid, so when I had a kid and a tree of my own, I bought some! My son loves to give them kisses.

    I love traditional white Christmas lights… I was so sad that we were going to switch to LED because the white is so white! But the day was saved by my intrepid husband who found out they now make ‘warm’ white LEDs.

    LAMP ME! My favorite this season has been the candlelight from the menorah – my boyfriend is Jewish and this is the first time in many years I’ve celebrated Hanukkah.

    LAMP ME!!! I love the white glow of Christmas lights with a very personal tree decorated with meaningful ornaments and decorations the kids can enjoy too.

    I am a fan of the white candle lights in each window. I have yet to do this in my home, but love the way it looks. I plan to buy some on clearance after the holidays for next year when we will be in our new house!

    Lamp me! My favorite is the multi lights in the new LED style. The LEDs are so much brighter and we can leave them on longer without wasting so much electricity.

    I miss having a real fireplace, so I try to recreate that sense of warmth with lots of candles and glowing white lights.

    Lamp me!

    I really love those colorful outdoor lights with HUGE bulbs… you know, the kind we had when we were kids in the 80s, but are now too energy inefficient and/or fire hazardous to use!
