Fab Freebie: Christmas Lights

This week’s early Christmas present is going to… Nancy (who says she “could certainly use some new lighting” and her favorite holiday glow “has to be my fireplace.”) Congrats Nancy!

As much as we love holiday lights, indoor lighting is something that you stare at every day of the year. So if you don’t love your lighting situation, this is one way to “dude, get on that” without spending any cash. See, recently we were voted one of Lamps Plus’ top home blogs of 2012 (how flattering!) and it came with a $500 shopping spree prize… but you know we don’t take freebies or swag, so the folks at Lamps Plus kindly agreed that we could pass that $500 credit to one of you! We’ve been fans of theirs for a while now since they seem to have about a million options (their chandeliers even popped up in our book a few times) so this week’s winner should have no trouble finding something to spend their light-loot on if they win.

    LAMP ME! I love looking at other people’s entire house and yard light displays, and even look forward to seeing them as I drive to and from work or errands in the evening in December. However, my favorite type of Christmas light at home is the string of white lights on the Christmas tree softly glowing with all the other lights off or turned down low. I’m looking forward to basking in that glow with a cup of hot chocolate AFTER I’m finished with all my DIY gift projects.

    LAMP ME!

    I love clear lights on the tree, but my husband loves colored lights, so we switch off every other year. This year we did clear AND colored and it’s my most favorite tree of all!

    I love a crackling fire on a cold winter’s night. I also love the twinkling lights of the Christmas tree. Really, I love all the lights. I’m always so sad to take them down in January.

    LAMP ME!

    When I was little, we ALWAYS went to my mom’s parents’ house. In addition to all the normal stuff, they had a 14-ft ceiling and always got a tall, tall tree that went to the ceiling. My grandfather was an electrical engineer, and he hung those old-school, incandescent, big ol’ multicolored bulbs EVERYWHERE on the outside of the house. So those always remind me of him and make me smile.

    LAMP ME.

    My favorite holiday lights has to be a christmas tree lit with colored lights. They can give a whole room a rosy-glow that reminds me of winter nights of my childhood

    White lights, fire in the fireplace, tea light candles, even the wee little bulb in our nativity which shoots a star like pattern onto the wall above it. Love it all!

    LAMP ME! For me, it’s the glow of the mini tree on my daughter’s nighstand that she insists on keeping on while she falls asleep… melts me heart.

    “LAMP ME!” this time of year my favorite type of light is the combination of candlelight and our tree. Whe we watch Christmas movies we turn the rest of the lights off. LOVE this tume of year. And I LOVE this giveaway. – Wierd,but I don’t have any lamps!

    LAMP ME! I love the big giant color lights that are super ’80s style – reminds me of being a kid. Also one year my mom caved and bought ‘bubble’ lights for our family tree. They were crazy! Mini lava lamps all over our tree.
