Fab Freebie: Christmas Lights

This week’s early Christmas present is going to… Nancy (who says she “could certainly use some new lighting” and her favorite holiday glow “has to be my fireplace.”) Congrats Nancy!

As much as we love holiday lights, indoor lighting is something that you stare at every day of the year. So if you don’t love your lighting situation, this is one way to “dude, get on that” without spending any cash. See, recently we were voted one of Lamps Plus’ top home blogs of 2012 (how flattering!) and it came with a $500 shopping spree prize… but you know we don’t take freebies or swag, so the folks at Lamps Plus kindly agreed that we could pass that $500 credit to one of you! We’ve been fans of theirs for a while now since they seem to have about a million options (their chandeliers even popped up in our book a few times) so this week’s winner should have no trouble finding something to spend their light-loot on if they win.

    Lamp Me!!!!

    I love colored Christmas lights, strung all around the house, anywhere I can find a place to hang them (and some places where I have to create some!).

    Where we live, it gets VERY white in the winter, and the warm colors of the lights really helps with the SAD. ;o)

    LAMP ME! I love candles in windows…they look especially great in our new home which is a colonial…made for candles and wreathes in windows.

    White lights, please. I love the look of turning all the lamps off and turning the Christmas lights and music on. Something about the ambience that puts me in the holiday spirit. And I’ll keep my lights up until spring. I remove outdoor decorations though.

    LAMP ME! I’m from a town settled by Moravians. Everyone has a Moravian star hanging on their porch or on top of their tree this time of year.

    Confession… when I lived in the mountains of North Carolina I put white icicle lights on my porch for Christmas and kept them up for two whole years. They just looked so cheerful and welcoming, especially when it was all cold and windy outside, but somehow made summer nights feel special, too.

    The wood burning fireplace comes in first as my favorite type of light. It’s so cozy and warm. Love it!

    Lamp me! I love the old school, jumbo Christmas lights that came in red, blue, green and orange. Although they were probably a major fire hazard, they always take me back to childhood :)

    I love the warm light Christmas lights – definitely more of a traditionalist when it comes to Christmas decorations.

    Lamp me, please! I love the plain Jane white lights on my tree, but I’m also a sucker for the old school oversized colored bulbs like we used to decorate with when I was little. Christmas nostalgia :)

    I adore the white light of candles in the windows. Nothing is better than driving up to your home and seeing beautiful candles adorning each window.
