Fab Freebie: Color Combo

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

This week’s giveaway sponsor practically needs no introduction. It’s Valspar Paint (which Meredith successfully figured out last week from our anagram clue). They’re giving away FIVE gallons of their high quality, Ultra Premium interior paint (one each to FIVE of our lucky readers). So we foresee a handful of paint projects in some of your futures… and hopefully some before & after pictures as well.

Valspar Ultra Paint

But Valspar isn’t just offering up paint this week, they’ve also created a great online resource for couples faced with the challenge of combining their styles. The “Love, Our Style” site includes some painting tips via a Painting 101 section, a photo contest where you can win a paint makeover, and – our favorite part – a quiz to help figure out how to merge your aesthetic with your partner’s.

Valspar Love Our Style

And although Sherry and I feel like we’ve figured out our combined style pretty well, we jumped at the chance to see how we fared with the quiz. After 10 simple (and sometimes thought-provoking) multiple choice questions, the quiz revealed that our style is “Relaxed” which came with this description: “You’re in perfect harmony when it comes to your eye for the simple yet functional. When it comes to your home decor, eco-conscious style- like natural textures, tones and sustainable furnishings- can play a big part. Take your love of the outdoors and find inspiration in nature, with warm neutrals.” Pretty dead on, eh? Not to mention that the paint colors they suggested are pretty much right up our alley too.

Valspar Quiz Results

So here’s the scoop on how you can score some free Valspar paint this week:

  • PRIZE: One gallon of Valspar Ultra Premium interior paint in the color/finish of your choice
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “COLOR ME” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: Head over to take the “Love, Our Style” quiz and share your results (and how accurate you think it is)
  • CONTEST CLOSES: Wednesday, September 16th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: Five
  • PRIZE SHIPS: United States only
  • THE USUAL: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

    Color Me!

Took the quiz and this is what I found… I can’t wait to try it WITH my husband tonight and see if this is true!
    RELAXED CLASSIC
Your styles were made for each other. It’s easy to blend you partner’s traditional and sophisticated taste with your relaxed style. You both are drawn to simplicity and clean lines, so this won’t be hard when picking furnishings. Some can be timeless pieces, while others adapt to today’s eco-conscious mentality. Colors like pale greens and blues work well for you.

Try Bayou Shade 6006-3C, Sage Bud 5003-3B, Green Monsoon 5008-3C, Lucy Blue 5001-5C and Weathered Moss 6007-3C.

Color me glossy and black! We are stripping the carpet out of our bedroom and cleaning and sealing the concrete floor (it’s a converted garage) and painting it glossy black! I’d love to win!

Relaxed. We don’t agree on much, but if it were up to him we’d never change anything. I replaced a rooms wallpaper with yellow paint and it took him a week to notice.

    COLOR ME!!!

Took the quiz. My results: RELAXED COUNTRY

Style match! You both seek a comforting environment. Though one of you may be more into sustainable furnishings and the other likes nostalgic pieces, you can still make those work well together in your home. You also both like neutrals and earthy colors, so don’t be afraid to bring in that country flair.

Not sure how accurate that really is…

    COLOR ME!!!
Took the quiz while my hubby was at work..I’ll try it again to see what he chooses, but we got EXOTIC ROMANTIC.

Here’s a style you can truly call your own. One of you is soft and gentle and the other one has a wild side. That’s okay, because they both can look great in your home. Try combining multicolored prints and patterns with flowing fabrics. It’s easy to be adventurous, yet still elegant.

See how you like Del Coronado Tequila 3008-10C, Mojave Sunset 2005-8A, Wild Lavender 1002-3B, Rouge Red 1007-1B and Crimson Glow 2011-5.

Not too sure those color choices really are us, we go for more bold colors in our house. But I think the style name fits us :) Thanks for the fun!
