Fab Freebie: Father Lowe’s Best

****This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

Having now been a father for one whole month (Happy 1- month birthday, Clara!) I’m totally psyched for this Sunday: my first Father’s Day. Another reason I’m psyched? Because our friends at Lowe’s have offered to help us celebrate Daddy Day with a handy gift guide mood board along with a totally testosterone-ready prize. So if you’re still scratching you head about what to get ol’ pops, here are a few ideas to get you started. And if you’re our lucky winner, you might just be covered entirely (for the next few years even):

Lowes Father's Moodboard

  1. What’s Father’s Day without tools? Kobalt 22 Piece Set ($50) is a great starter set if your guy happens to be tool-less. It covers all the basics, plus dad gets a tool bag to keep it all organized.
  2. If dad’s covered in the tool department, help him step it up a notch with a Kobalt 60 Piece Driver Set ($54) that has a bit for just about any job you can think of and then some.
  3. Now if you really want to splurge on pop this year, upgrade his workshop with a Kobalt 53” Tool Chest ($1798). It’s not your everyday tool storage space – it’s got a radio and mini fridge built in! Like woah.
  4. If tools aren’t his thing, help him tend to the yard with the Fiskars Momentum Reel Mower ($199) that we’re enjoying. It’s an eco-friendly way to mow, plus he’ll get a little extra workout in.
  5. Or hook him up with a Troy-Bilt String Trimmer ($100) to keep those edges in check. Bonus: he might just stop mowing over the flower beds.
  6. You can also send him on a power trip with the Porter Cable 4 Piece Combo Kit ($129) that’s got a cordless reciprocating saw, circular saw, drill and flashlight all powered by the same battery.
  7. But enough about gifts that put dad to work. What about letting him relax with a nice meal straight from the grill? This compact, but powerful 2-burner Char-Broil Urban Grill ($269) could do the trick.
  8. Lastly, if he’s like most guys and is just plain hard to shop for. You can never go wrong with a Lowe’s Gift Card, right?

If you read this morning’s post about my experience with the Fiskars Momentum mower, you already know that it’s part of this week’s prize.

Lowes Fiskars Mower

What you don’t know is that this week’s winner is also gonna score #7 on our gift guide too. Yep, the Char-Broil Urban Grill is also making it’s way to one of you. That way you can spoil the dad in your life with a one-two punch of prizes (or split ’em up if you got a few fathers to pamper this year). Okay, and we wouldn’t blame you if you just kept ’em for yourself. Can’t beat nearly $500 in free stuff, right?

Lowes Char Broil Grill

Now let’s get on to how you enter:

  • PRIZE: The Char-Broil Urban Grill and Fiskars Momentum Reel Mower courtesy of Lowe’s, Char-Broil and Fiskars
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “HAPPY FATHER’S DAY _______!” (inserting the names of the dad(s) or father-like figures in your life) and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … why not share something you love about them or how you plan to celebrate, honor or remember them this weekend. Feel free to gush, get sappy, or just tell an embarrassing story that captures why he (or they) make your day.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, June 16th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The 50 United States
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

    “HAPPY FATHER’S DAY DADDY!”
I have to admit that I’m an enormous daddy’s girl. My husband claims that my 2 younger sisters and I have an unhealthy father-daughter relationship because we’re so close! That’s right I said 2 younger sisters, meaning my father has always been surrounded by (aka had to put up with) women. He likes to joke that even our dogs are girls! For my wedding I wrote a song for our father-daughter dance, titled “To Me You’ll Always Be,” and he said he held it together all day until he listened to the song again on the car ride home for the wedding and then he lost it. I call him every morning on my way to work, and even though he now denies saying so I think his dream would be for my sisters and I all to move home (husband included).

My father is Mr. Handy, in fact he has a company called “Honey-Do” Home Services. As a teenager I remember helping him with all of the many projects he does around the house, and now that I’m a home (ok, apartment) owner I really value his helpful advice, and willingness to pitch in when I need to do some repairs. I can always count on him for anything, and he never asks for anything in return.

I could write paragraphs upon paragraphs about my dad, but I’ll wrap up. Basically my dad is an amazing man who goes above and beyond for everyone he comes across. There have been lots of struggles in his life, and he always manages to make the best of things and pull through. I only wish for him that all of the struggles will soon be behind him, and that he will get the amazing things he deserves out of life that I know he wishes for us. He’s giving, caring, loving, amazing, and he deserves to be spoiled more then I can afford to spoil him!

Happy Father’s Day Day!! You’ve really been the best dad ever, and I mean it. Sometimes when people talk about how awesome their dads are I’m like, ‘Pishaw! My dad would kick your dad’s butt in awesomeness.’ You never missed a single soccer game, track meet, stupid dance recital…you never missed anything. I’ve found things that I’ve thrown in the trash as a child that you’ve dug up and kept as momentums of our youth. You have supported me in every decision I’ve ever made, because you trust that you raised a strong, intelligent woman who can learn from her own mistakes. You cringe when I get hurt, but tell me to buck up to make me stronger, and it has. I love you more than words can express and am so fortunate to call you my Dad. I’m really one lucky girl!!

My daddy is my superman. From wrestling with my brothers and I to wrestling with his grandkids. My husband is my kiddos superman. He is always more than ready to run and play pretend with them. He is not afraid to play girly with the girls or teach them its ok to love legos like their brother. I am blessed to have a father that always believes in me and to have a husband who believes in my kids also. This year is the first father’s day I won’t see my dad but we are very thankful for Skype and telephones. :)

I love that he always has time for the kids. Even if he just walked in the door after a long day of work, he has a big smile for them and will jump right into their games. He is the best daddy, not to mention the most wonderful husband. He has no shortage of sweet words and backs them up with thoughtful acts. He never expects special treatment, but he deserves some this Father’s Day.
