We thought we’d finish off this year with a prize all about finishing off a major remodeling project (or even just a quick furniture upgrade) the right way. I’m planning to continue on my great grandma’s New Year’s tradition of making Hoppin’ John black eyed peas for me and the hubster. This Christmas when we were visiting my grandma’s house, I went through my grandma’s collection of keepsake recipes and copied down oodles of them. The suprise…so many of the recipes were full of healthy produce and whole grains. I can’t wait to carry on the tradition!

One of our friends always has a huge, crazy house party for New Years and we always go. It’s a rare night of non-homebody-behavior for us and we always have a good time. My family has a tradition of everybody finding something goofy to wear as a hat for a photo at midnight. I have no idea where this came from, but I love seeing old pictures of my Grandma wearing a Crockpot. I think I’ll revive it.
