FINN ME! I just finished my very first distressed wood project! I re-used the butcher block kitchen table we got for our wedding (13 years ago). It was sitting in our garage as a pseudo-craft table that was rapidly becoming a “laundry sorting” counter/catch-all. Our floor plan is a bit tricky, since we bought our house from a flipper who did not seem to consider the true “livability” of his design. After trying for seven years to make it seem “normal” that our dining table was in the living room/entry way (two rooms away from the kitchen, no less!), I couldn’t ignore the fact that our layout was just too disjointed. I decided to face reality… and get inspired! I did a little research online, and …voila! Discovering your AMAZING site inspired me to take matters into my own hands.
I’ll admit, it took a few attempts to get the whole sanding, staining, distressing, glazing combination down – and don’t get me started on the whole polyurethane process. But, I learned it all on my own and I feel so empowered! Thanks so much for the life-changing epiphany. I never realized how therapeutic “DIYing” could be!

FINALLY, my husband and I have finished the many MANY MAAAAANNY hoop jumping obstacles that have stood in the way of us buying our first home! We close in a couple days! After dealing with FHA loans, home repairs, contractor bids, verifications of banks, and more paperwork than even our realtor or loan processor has seen the house will be ours very soon! Now up to remodeling the fixer upper we bought and making it family friendly for us and our 18 month old.
