Fab Freebie: French Swimming

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – see who won below!***

Well now that we’re more than ready to find a pool to dive into, random.org has picked a winner of this week’s giveaway. The lucky lady is… Cher (who swims about 20 laps each day in the summer). Congrats!

One element in our new kitchen that always makes us smile is the etsy print that we purchased by Samantha French. Remember, the cheery orange and blue painting of the lady swimming (that Clara also sweetly though included some “fishies”)? Well now Samantha is giving you guys a chance to win your very own colorful work of art with a $200 gift certificate to her Etsy shop. So grab your swim cap and bathing suit because that’s enough to snag any of the 16 x 20″ archival prints featuring Samantha’s signature subject matter.

Samantha French Giveaway

  • PRIZE: A $200 gift card to Samantha French’s Etsy shop
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “LET’S GO SWIMMING!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …are you a swimmer? Do you love going to the pool to do a few laps? Or maybe just to splash around (or lounge around)? Or are you and water not friends?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, March 28th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: Worldwide!
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Samantha French.

I love to swim, but sadly, at forty-something, with an out-of-shape body, I find it very difficult to wear swimwear! :-)

LET’S GO SWIMMING! I played 10 years of water polo so I’m definitely a swimmer. When I saw your post on that artwork I totally fell in love. They just capture that fresh, cool feeling of jumping in a pool. I put it on my wish list for later on but I’d love to win a gift card!

LET’S GO SWIMMING… I love to swim – ocean, pool, lake, stream, anywhere that appears to be safe! My mom made both my sister and I take swimming lessons almost every year from birth until 10 or 12, when there was essentially no more lessons to be taught (although I never did master the butterfly stroke). Anyway, I married a fellow water baby, who swims like a dolphin. Literally.. we live in Florida and he is a body surfer. Can’t wait for the ocean to warm up…

    LETS GO SWIMMING

ok so as someone who was FORCED (yes forced) to take swimming lessons from about 7 – 15 years of age I’m not really a swim lover. Mostly it was just painful to have to jump into a super cold pool when you weren’t even that hot to begin with.
And seriously who takes swimming lessons for like 8 years? By the end of it I could do a perfect butterfly stroke – totally not necessary in learning how to swim so you won’t drown!!
If you can’t tell I’m a bit bitter about the whole swim lesson thing! ha. But at least I won’t drown now – even if I rarely ever swim as an adult. :)

    LET’S GO SWIMMING!

I saw Ms. French’s work in a gallery in NYC and have been completely in love with her oil paintings ever since. My now deceased grandmother taught me to swim, when she herself had learned to swim (and drive) around age 50, as such activities weren’t as common/appropriate for women in the south in those days. Samantha French’s work reminds me of my grandmother, ever patient and encouraging, swimming with me in our backyard pool. It’s nostalgia at its best!

I am not a swimmer, but really wish I was :( There are a lot of awesome looking swimming holes in Vermont that I wish I were not terrified of. However, the past two summers I have forced myself into a bathing suit to bring my son (now 3) to Parent/Child swim lessons so he won’t be afraid like I am!
