Fab Freebie: Gettin’ Jiggy With It

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

If you read this morning’s post about DIYing some wood shelves for the nursery, then it should come as no surprise that this week’s giveaway is from Kreg Tools. They’re giving one of you the chance to take home their Kreg Jig, so – no matter your skill level – you can feel like real woodworker.

Kreg Jig Materials

After all, I hardly consider myself to be a master craftsman, but after my latest shelf-building adventure I’m itching to tackle more wood-related projects. They really can be addicting…

Shelves Close

In addition to the Jig itself, this week’s winner will also be snagging a 675-piece Screw Kit, a Face Clamp and a set of project plans to get you started. So with all that at your disposal, I promise not to be jealous if you build something more complex than me. Here’s how to enter:

  • PRIZE: A Kreg Jig, Screw Kit, Face Clamp and set of project plans.
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “I’M GETTIN’ JIGGY” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us about your dream wood-related project. Is there something you’ve always wished you could build? Or a renovation that you dream of tackling with your own two hands?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, April 7th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: All 50 of the United States
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

Making a king-sized bed is next on deck. And I just made a shelf very similar to yours, although larger and mounted to the wall via what would be the bottom of your shelf (kind of like a giant shadow box. I still need to hang it up, but it’s going above the TV so that (HOPEFULLY) we can have flowers and photos displayed without the cats eating them/knocking them over. We’ll see how hard the cats try to jump up on it.

I have been thinking about getting the kreg jig, but I haven’t had a project where I thought it would really be the best method of joinery. It does look like fun, though!

We’ve been talking for months about building our own closet system. Our condo has only one – yes, you heard me right, only one – closet in the whole place. So it’s crucial that it’s organized and can fit everything from clothes, shoes, coats and even the vacuum cleaner. We’d love a tool like this so we could make it happen!

I’d love to learn to use power tools on my own so I don’t have to leave it all up to my husband. We’re talking about making our own headboard, so that’s the next project on the list.

Then again, we have an 11-month-old daughter, and those pocket shelves would look awfully cute in her nursery with some of the “big girl books” that she’s not quite ready to have in her toy box.
