It’s the season of giving, aka: the season of gifting. Which is why this week’s giveaway from GiftTree.com should come in handy. Fresh blooms always make a room feel more festive and inviting, especially around the holidays. And GiftTree has a great selection of florals with some holiday flair:

Gift Tree Xmas Bouqet

And no worries if you’re having trouble deciding whether to send a bouquet to your loved one or just to yourself. The $100 gift card that’s up for grabs means you can actually do both.

Gift Tree Belle Ball

  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “GIFT ME!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …tell us about a time you were surprised by a gift (whether it was a bouquet of flowers or something else). Maybe your guy got you a dozen roses “just because”? Or you came home to a wrapped present on your half birthday?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, December 8th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One

Not only do we have one winner, but everyone can get 10% off any order on GiftTree.com with code YHL10. Happy gifting everyone!

And our lucky winner (as selected by random.org) is… Roshni (who gets surprised often by her husband, so she couldn’t pick just one instance as her favorite). Congrats!

GIFT ME!!! Is it bad to admit I just got surprised today? But the surprise was new laundry baskets (something needed but I’d always never get before the money was used up on other things during the month), so nice but not as nice as flowers. :)

On my 18th birthday my now husband (we dated for a long time!)asked me if I would like to run a few errands with him and later grab a bite to eat.

I had nothing planned so I said sure and hoped in the car for a drive with him.
We drove around for hours doing deliveries for his mom’s company until finally he said he was getting hungry and that we should pick a place to eat.

I decided I wanted to go to a local Greek restaurant but he said he wasn’t in the mood for Greek. I was a little upset as it was my birthday and I had just spent hours helping him with deliveries but I wasn’t in the mood for an argument so I told him to pick a place.

He said he had one more delivery to make but that if I wanted to run in with him there was a good restaurant nearby.

The place that we went into for his delivery was an old dinner theater. I followed him in and to my surprise instead of taking the box we were seated.

After taking our seats up next to the stage, he opened the huge box that he had carried in for his “delivery” and pulled out a vase full of red roses.

The deliveries had all been a diversion to keep me from realizing he had actually planned something for my birthday.

What a sweet guy!!!! (and a great gift!)

Gift me! When I moved to a new school in 5th grade and was sad the first week without all my old friends, I came home one day to a bouquet of smiley-face balloons. The card was signed “the balloon bandit.” I don’t know who it was to this day (15 years later, but I suspect my Mom :))

    GIFT ME!

I was surprised by a bouquet of flowers from my husband once … he had given me the flowers for my birthday from an online florist, but the real surprise came for the next few days when the florist kept mailing the same bouquet over and over … apparently, a mistake in the computers! Nice surprise for me though!

Gift me! It isn’t the biggest or most expensive present I’ve received, but it’s sweetness and simplicity means I will always remember it. A few years ago, I was working full time and started an internship, meaning several times a week I worked 12-16 hours. The night I got home from my first double-day, my boyfriend opened the door holding two of my favorite things: red wine and dots candy!

Gift Me!!! My husband and I are still newlyweds, having only been married a year and some change, so we’re still learning how to live with each other sometimes and “deal” with moods. My husband was having a not-so-wonderful work week but instead of leaving the funk at the office he brought it home with him. It was not a fun week (and he realized it) but the following week he got me two large bouquets of flowers as an apology! He said they both were so beautiful and had some many of my favorite flowers that he couldn’t just pick one! The flowers were beautiful and lasted almost two weeks!

    GIFT ME!!!

Well there have been 2 kick a$$ gifts in my time. When I was 16, my parents surprised me on Christmas morning with a CAR! It was amazing – all of us were crying, I couldn’t even believe it. They waited until the last possible second to give it to me that morning as we were heading out and it was the biggest surprise ever! I actually just tear up thinking about it!

And 2 years ago my sweet husband surprised me by buying BRITNEY SPEARS concert tickets for us in DC! It was AWESOME! I am a huge fan and he’s gotten me Britney themed presents 2 years in a row. :)

Since my pre-baby memory has seemed to erased since having my son two years ago, I have to say that a very unexpected surprise concerns him, when a week after having the baby my husband came home with a Maclaren stroller, courtesy of his boss and wife. We had planned on getting it after the baby was bit older, but the boss’ wife, being a professional nanny, and not knowing we were eyeing them yet knowing they come in handy, gifted one to us. Probably the best baby gift.

    GIFT ME!

I was once VERY surprised by a gift from a guy whom I had been on a few dates with. He surprised me by sneaking up to my front porch (late) one night (creepy) to drop a wrapped book, because he knew I probably needed a good airplane read because I was going out of town. I didn’t notice the small package on my doorstep until the next morning, when I was leaving the house, which came off as a LOT creepy.

    Gift me!

One time I received a bouquet of 20 different dyed carnations stuffed in baby’s breath and ferns. The guy (the delivery man at the RX where I worked) didn’t know what color I liked so he asked them to give me all colors! It was the ugliest bouquet I have ever seen. Needless to say, I did not respond with a “yes” to his date invitation!

Also, I have question…we are looking to get an old home in Palmyra, VA outside of Richmond. (Hubby is maybe taking a new JOB there) Do you know if the trim is shiny “shellac” varnish – what is the best type of paint to cover it and it not chip off easily? Do we need to sand it all down?

When my husband and I first started dating, he surprised me with tickets to a sold out concert that was on our 2-month anniversary. We were poor college students at the time, so it was a big deal. Eight years later those songs still bring me back to that night.
