I use my smart phone calendar all the time but I also use a dry erase calendar at home. It’s preprinted with the calendar grid, I just fill in the month and the days with a dry erase pen. I love it. It’s more spendy than a paper calendar of course but if you get it on sale it’s not a bad deal. After all, it can last for years and the paper version gets thrown away after one use!

A few years ago, my boyfriend knew I was going through a really rough time at work, so without telling me, he took a day off, cleaned our entire apartment, bought me a beautiful orange sweater and a single orange flower (our shared favorite color), and had dinner cooking by the time I came home from work. The best surprise gift I’ve ever received was a bouquet of flowers my dad sent to me in high school after I lost the election for class president. He wanted to make sure I knew how much I was loved and how proud he was of me, even if I wasn’t the winner.
