I think my first surprise flowers were at my first job at a restaurant. We were so busy I gave a customer a free drink, and later that day I got the prettiest daisies and a card that said, “Thanks for the drink, cutie.”

My bf is all about the random and unexpected gift-for-no-reason. Over the summer, we were in the parking lot of a movie theater going to see Predators (yup) and before we got out of the car he handed me a box. Inside was a pair of gorrrgeous diamond earrings, just because. I never guessed a movie about killer aliens would be so romantic. :)

The best surprise gift I’ve ever received was a World Market buffet! My brother and sister in-law shipped it to us as a wedding present. We had no clue what was coming, only that we had a white-glove delivery item! It was so exciting and we love our new buffet!

Many ago I was a Catholic girl from a small town, married to a Jewish boy from the big city. We loved each other but each Christmas was sad for me because we never had Christmas tree.

A time I was surprised by a gift was when my grandmother gave me three dolls. Two were hers when she was a child. The third is a tin head doll that was my great grandmother’s when she was little. I cherish these dolls! I was so surprised.

He left early one day and texted me to say that I should check my windshield before I drove out of the garage because he thought he saw a crack in it when he walked by. My most recent surprise gift (we call them happys) was a Fossil purse that I admired in passing. My husband and I ran into Macy’s to look at bedding and had to go through handbags to get to the escalators. I spied something cute and stopped for a minute to look and moved on. The next week I went on a business trip and when I got home my honey had the purse I admired hanging on the back of the bathroom door for me to find. :)

Years ago when a former beau and I were new in our relationship, I came home from work one day to find a card tucked into my front door. Upon opening the card, I discovered a pair of earrings from the new-ish beau. He had taken his son and a friend to the state fair where he had seen this pair of earrings that apparently I just had to have. He left them tucked into my door just for the surprise. I still have the earrings and the beau is still a friend.
