Fab Freebie: Hi, My Name Is…

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

We’re back with another fantastic prize that THREE lucky winners will be able to put their names on. This one comes from Customized Stationary, a fun little Etsy shop that features playfully designed cards and prints that you can customize with everything from your first name to your family name. And they’ve kindly put together three sweet sets for our winners to choose from (each which includes a print and set of coordinating notecards) that we were so enamored with we couldn’t help but snag a set for ourselves.

Custom Station Tree

Custom Station Birds

Custom Station Stump

We had trouble picking, but ended up going with the Carved Tree set, which we got to customize not only with our name and our initials carved into the tree, but also with our choice of colors. That way we ended up with a perfect-for-us set of stationary that was almost too good lookin’ to unwrap.

Custom Station Petersiks

Want a chance to customize your own set? Here are the giveaway deets:

  • PRIZE: 8×10″ print and coordinating twelve pack of 4 x 5.25 notecards in your selected design (Bird Family, Carved Tree or Stump). It’s a $27 value, but stay tuned for a YHL special discount at the end of the contest on Thursday.
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “CUSTOMIZE ME” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: Tell us about one of the last handwritten letters your sent (or received). Seems to be a dying custom in the digital age, so what was memorable about a recent time you used snail mail to send something special?
  • CONTEST CLOSES: Wednesday, September 2nd at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: Three
  • PRIZE SHIPS: USA Only
  • THE USUAL: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

I can’t remember the last letter I wrote but I do have all of the notes that I received in middle school and high school. I also I have every note that my husband wrote me when we were dating, including all of the cards that I recieved with flowers from him. Yeah, I’m cheesy like that! I am also a scrapbooker so the idea is that all that will get scraped’ oneday. Oh, I even have the little piece of paper that hubs wrote his phone number on and gave me almost 13 years ago! Do I get bonus points for that? LOL!

One of the women I used to babysit for is a true southern lady and still writes snail mail on beautiful stationery in her tiny neat script. Twenty years later, she still remembers my birthday; I just got a sweet note from her last week.

I just sent a card to my cousin whose dog recently passed away. My family calls me the “Miss Correspondence.” I remember writing a letter to my cousin when she got her dog and it seemed like an appropriate way to remember the passing of her dog as well. I hope my card cheered her up.

It wasn’t a handwritten letter, but I just colored (with crayons!) a picture for my (long-distance) boyfriend and sent it to him. Silly, but … he’s had a rough month and needed the pick-me-up.

I know mail is a dying method of communication, but I actually still mail out cards to my friends on a regular basis and not just the occasional birthday or holiday card. I love writing out a card just to let my girlfriends know that I’m thinking of them and missing them. I know how much I love getting sweet thoughts in the mail so I send them as often as possible. Plus, I’m a terrible stationary junkie so I have to use them to justify buying new ones! Crossing my fingers that I win cause I love this!!!

I am still sending thank you notes from our recent wedding. What I love is that sending thank you notes make me remember who gave each thing in our house- we are so blessed, and I love to be reminded of our great friends. I have enjoyed the thanking process because I do not take any gift for granted!

Ooh I love the carved tree cards! Hmm I don’t technically send letters but I am obsessed with buying and sending greeting cards! The last one I sent was to my sister. It was a thank you card for her coming to stay with me and the hubs for a week. I know it’s usually the other way around, but we were SO thankful that she came all the way down from NY to visit us in VA! :)

I always handwrite my kids thank-you notes for their birthday parties, or anything special sent to them.

Side note – I would LOVE LOVE LOVE these notecards… being my name isn’t spelled the “traditional” way, I NEVER have things with my name on them. My mom had a pack of notecards handprinted with my name on them. I loved them, but it was 15 years ago, and they’re all gone :( I would LOVE these!!!

my fiance spent the last 5 months away at military training. he only got one phone call a week and i never knew when it was coming, so our primary form of communication was through hand written letters to one another. i have them all in a big photo box so we can look at them when we’re old and gray and remember how truly in love we were/are/will be. :)

I wrote a note to a 1st grader in my class who has made “happy” choices all week long. I know she will be proud to show it to her parents. I feel it is as important to acknowledge and praise good behavior in the classroom as it is to deal with bad behavior.

When we first met in college, I wanted to exchange email addresses with the guy I was interested in. He said he would rather have my home address because hand written letters were so much more personal. He actually wrote me letters all summer that year, which I still have. I thought that was the most romantic and thoughtful thing ever! Turns out, that guy is now my hubby of 5 years!!!! <3

BONUS QUESTION: I love sending out cards and letters! I recently sent a letter to my younger friend (sort of like a little sister to me) who is a freshman in college. She likes lots of notes from home to make the college life go smoother. I sent her a letter on silly pink stationary that had the Cheshire Cat on it. :) Fun stuff to make her smile.
