Fab Freebie: Hi, My Name Is…

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

We’re back with another fantastic prize that THREE lucky winners will be able to put their names on. This one comes from Customized Stationary, a fun little Etsy shop that features playfully designed cards and prints that you can customize with everything from your first name to your family name. And they’ve kindly put together three sweet sets for our winners to choose from (each which includes a print and set of coordinating notecards) that we were so enamored with we couldn’t help but snag a set for ourselves.

Custom Station Tree

Custom Station Birds

Custom Station Stump

We had trouble picking, but ended up going with the Carved Tree set, which we got to customize not only with our name and our initials carved into the tree, but also with our choice of colors. That way we ended up with a perfect-for-us set of stationary that was almost too good lookin’ to unwrap.

Custom Station Petersiks

Want a chance to customize your own set? Here are the giveaway deets:

  • PRIZE: 8×10″ print and coordinating twelve pack of 4 x 5.25 notecards in your selected design (Bird Family, Carved Tree or Stump). It’s a $27 value, but stay tuned for a YHL special discount at the end of the contest on Thursday.
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “CUSTOMIZE ME” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: Tell us about one of the last handwritten letters your sent (or received). Seems to be a dying custom in the digital age, so what was memorable about a recent time you used snail mail to send something special?
  • CONTEST CLOSES: Wednesday, September 2nd at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: Three
  • PRIZE SHIPS: USA Only
  • THE USUAL: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

This morning, I sent several handwritten thank you cards to co-workers who had assisted me in planning and pulling off a big event. I love stationary and the charm of a handwritten letter, so I hope they will as well!

I send letters to my grandparents at least once a month. it keeps us connected and i fill in the blanks our phone calls don’t mention. i also send birthday letters to friends when i can. there is something so personal about writing a letter, handwritten, that just makes your heart warm when you get one and even when you send one out into the world. i’m passing this tradition off to my 8 year old daughter as well. she writes letters and draws pictures to send out, she knows we could send email but this is just 100 times better!

i’m a stationary addict and have tons of it and i’m always looking for new, cute stuff to use!

My latest snail mail letter was to my great aunt in Tuscon, Arizona. We’ve only met once (when my grandmother passed away), but through writing to her and letting her know what’s going on with our family, it’s really allowed us to connect and feel like she’s closer than she actually is! :)

One of my most recent handwritten notes was sent while my husband and I were on our honeymoon in Scotland. We visited the little town that my great-grandfather was born in. To mark the occasion, I wrote my dad a sweet note describing the place and my feelings being there, then included a few leaves I’d collected on our walk before dropping the envelope in the big red post box.

My grandma always has the sweetest messages in the notes that she sends me- something that always touches the heart and so often brings a tear to my eye. She just has a way with words. I like to send hand-written notes and plan to do it more often as I know how much I like to receive them in the mail and would like other to have that great feeling as well.

I last wrote a thank you note to one of my employees for going above and beyond at work.

However, as far as a memorable hand-written letter…the most memorable one I have had recently would be from my 91 year old grandma. She talked about her relationship with my grandpa who passed away almost 9 years ago and about how much she still missed him. I know that is something I will probably hold onto for years to come.

I send cards and letters all the time to friends. I keep all that I receive in a large envelope and read them when I feel down, to remind me that I have people in my life that care. I like to think that perhaps my friends might do the same with the ones I send to them. I just recently sent a letter to a friend who told me she feels hopeless about life and I wrote her reminding her of all the things she has done in her life and how strong she is.

My family just had a reunion – my daughters decorated note cards and stamped envelopes and handed out one to each family member…each person addressed the card to themselves and they were redistributed among the family…i just received a letter from my 20-something male cousin filled with memories from the reunion and KNOW i wouldn’t have heard from him otherwise! Makes me smile!

Not only was the card itself representative of my style and taste, but what she wrote inside was perfectly personalized – a lot of thought and love went into this little card :)

I love paper. I recently realized this when I made my own wedding invitations with rich handmade papers and linen cardstock…

But the wedding invitations were not the most recent piece of mail to slip through the mail slot. Most recently I made my own little thank you cards for the wedding with a little stamp and a lot of love. And I just got a lovely handmade note card from an online friend that accompanied two boxes of organic cereal. YUM!

So I will ask that you CUSTOMIZE ME some of that gorgeous stationary. Please and thank you. I have some little care packages to put together for some of my other online friends.
