Fab Freebie: Homes On Homepage

*** This giveaway is now closed. See who won below! ***

An early Christmas present (in the form of this $500 Visa gift card) has randomly chosen to come to the hands of… Mary (whose dream house would be a “big cozy log cabin out in the woods” complete with fishing pond, swimming pool, hot tub, huge whirlpool tub in her bathroom and a giant walk in closet. Her fantasy list doesn’t end there, so check out her comment for the rest). Congrats Mary!

With a URL as broad as Homes.com, there are a lot of topics you might think they cover. Because people buy homes. They decorate homes. They do home improvements. You get the idea. Well, Homes.com does cover all of those things – from all stages of the home buying process to decor and DIY. We especially enjoyed their home values and city profiles (because we’re nerds for stuff like that). But what you’ll probably enjoy the most is the chance to win a $500 Visa gift card from Homes.com this week. Yup, five hundred dolla dolla bills (in plastic form) to spend wherever you’d like for whatever stage of home ownership you’re currently enjoying. Oh yeah, and they’re also giving away a signed copy of our book over on their blog.

HOMES ME! We just bought a new house not too long ago and were able to find a lot of what we wanted in one house. But if I were to go back and do it again I would only buy a house as long as it came with Rosie the cleaning robot from the Jetsons!

HOMES MEEEE!!! I need a house with two bathrooms! And a security system. There have been five break-ins on my block in the past two years (3 quite recently). Thankfully, they haven’t hit our house yet! Oh, and hubby wants a garage to keep his classic ’79 Chevy Silverado safe from the bird poopie! :)

    HOMES ME!
BONUS QUESTION: Very simple-A heated garage. Up here in Canada, I’m just getting so sick of scraping my car off and heating it up, and we’re not even half way through winter! To avoid that entirely would be enough for me to get on my knees and sing praises. If it was a double car garage, then I’d have my own woodshop and pretty much be in heaven right there.

HOMES ME! After living in this 400 sq foot apartment with coin-op laundry for almost a year, my only requirements are washer/dryer hookups and more than one closet. And a little more square footage for our kitty to play would be nice!

Location is at the top of my list. A close second is having enough outlets. Right now we have 2.5 baths and there is only one outlet in one of them, and that one only works when the light switch is turned on.

If we got another home, it would have to be on water. Preferably a lake. I know it sounds crazy, but we majorly lucked out with our current property being on a lake and there’s something amazing about waking up to such a lovely view. It’s so relaxing! :)

We are actually considering a move from the big city (LA) to a smaller city on the east coast…and are considering, among others, Richmond :-) We’d be super happy with a slightly bigger house (we’re currently just under 1200 sq feet) in a nice, walkable neighborhood.

    HOMES ME!

If we were to buy a new house, I think I’d want larger closets/more storage space. Going from an apartment to our first home, it seemed that we had so much storage space, but now that we have a baby, there aren’t enough nooks and crannies to store all the baby gear (in addition to all of Mommy’s clothes that no longer fit – boo!)
