An early Christmas present (in the form of this $500 Visa gift card) has randomly chosen to come to the hands of… Mary (whose dream house would be a “big cozy log cabin out in the woods” complete with fishing pond, swimming pool, hot tub, huge whirlpool tub in her bathroom and a giant walk in closet. Her fantasy list doesn’t end there, so check out her comment for the rest). Congrats Mary!
With a URL as broad as Homes.com, there are a lot of topics you might think they cover. Because people buy homes. They decorate homes. They do home improvements. You get the idea. Well, Homes.com does cover all of those things – from all stages of the home buying process to decor and DIY. We especially enjoyed their home values and city profiles (because we’re nerds for stuff like that). But what you’ll probably enjoy the most is the chance to win a $500 Visa gift card from Homes.com this week. Yup, five hundred dolla dolla bills (in plastic form) to spend wherever you’d like for whatever stage of home ownership you’re currently enjoying. Oh yeah, and they’re also giving away a signed copy of our book over on their blog.

HOMES ME
A full basement!! My husband and I are from the north where full basements are the norm, but where we live in VA very few have them because we are low to sea level and they often flood. Where do you put all your junk without a basement?
Mary Sniezek says
Homes Me! I really want a yard where I can have a back patio.
Lindsay says
HOMES ME!
Emily S. says
HOMES ME!
We just bought our first house in August but, already, I can tell you that my next house MUST have space for an office!
Kelly H. says
Homes me! The next house I buy will be a ONE story….NO stairs!!
Kristin says
HOMES ME!
I’d love a big playroom with lots of storage.
Emily says
HOMES ME!
I want a house with a master bath – no more sharing with the kiddos!!
Gabie says
HOMES ME!!! More square footage! More storage! Fewer trees(leaves)!
Stephanie says
HOMES ME!
The top of my list for if I were to move right now would be a washer and dryer hookups! I live in an apartment that doesn’t even have hookups! After that I would definitely be looking at wall space and/or storage space.
Caitlyn says
HOMES ME! The must have for me is a huge fenced in yard so my two puppies can run free without my worry of something happening to them! We currently live right in the city with almost no yard and definitely no fence, so a fence is at the top of my dream home list!
Pauline says
HOMES ME!
A white chef’s kitchen, complete with a backyard garden for growing all my own veggies and herbs…well that sounds more like a dream than a must have…but a girl can dream :)
Bessa says
HOMES ME! I’d add a finished patio to our little place – the yard needs a ton of work still, but it would be so nice if we had moved in to a place that had some of that done already.
Nicole L says
Homes me!!
My must haves would be a killer kitchen, a huge mudroom, a killer home theatre room in the basement for my husband and a fenced in backyard for our chocolate lab. Then, the whole family would be happy!
Cathy says
HOMES ME! My next house MUST have a loop. You know, so kids and pets can run around. In a loop.
Jackie says
HOMES ME!
If I were to get a new house, I’d want an open layout and cohesive flooring – our current home is lovely, but lacks the flow that I want.
Kristin says
HOMES ME!
A fireplace!
Kaylie says
Homes me!
Although we LOVE our new house that we’ve had for about six months, I would say that we would change the garage if we had the chance to do it over again. We have a three-car garage now which is wonderful, but my husband is a big DIY-er and car enthusiast so it has somehow gotten tight in space ALREADY.
Lindsay says
Homes me!
My next home will have a patio in the backyard. I am looking forward to that project the least!
Michelle says
HOMES ME!!!
A garage… we don’t have one and don’t have room for one, but owning a home definitely means “stuff”! From snow blowers to lawnmowers to shovels to tools…. We have a nice size shed, but are putting a 3 sided addition off the back side (faces the driveway, front side is inside the fence line facing the yard), and that’s going to help with the mechanical stuff for sure, but we’d love a garage.
Jessica says
HOMES ME! A walk in closet is what I need most, so my poor husband no longer has to walk to the playroom for his clothes, because I have the one and only small closet in our room!
Jessica says
HOMES ME!
My dream upgrade would be to have a foyer/mudroom at the entrance of the house, where our front door opens right into our living room.
Natalie says
HOMES ME!
We’ve had so many repairs lately in our 82 year old fixer upper, my must-have would be an already updated or new construction so I could just have fun with the decorating and furnishing!
Abby J. says
HOMES ME!
If I were buying right now, my #1 consideration would be the neighborhood and the school district.
Trisha D says
HOMES ME!
The must have on the top of my list is a stove, although we have lived almost six months without one :).
cmm says
HOMES ME!
Would need to be in a walk to everything neighborhood!
Kelly says
Homes me! I’d definitely look for a house with an attached garage and a fenced-in yard!
Emily Redden says
Homes Me, Please! I would love a larger, prettier kitchen…not because I cook or anything;)
Amelinda says
“HOMES ME!” I am trying to buy a house right now (cross your fingers for me please!) and I reeeeeeally want a front porch :-)
CalCoastFoodie says
HOMES ME! Something with a flatter, more private backyard.
Rosie says
HOMES ME! A brand new house today would HAVE to have a bigger master bathroom. And an island in the kitchen. And NO laminate flooring… give me reall wood or tiles or something, but NO pergo! I, personally, can’t stand the stuff and we have it EVERYWHERE! lol!
Amanda says
HOMES ME!!
I’m curently looking for a place that offers more bedrooms. We are quickly outgrowing our 3 bedroom apartment.
Megan W. says
HOMES ME! Would love a bit more square footage (currently have under 1,000) with a dedicated laundry closet/room, a kitchen with more than one cabinet, and maybe a guest bathroom or 1/2 bath!!
Azure says
Homes me! I would love an already remodelled big kitchen.
Jennie says
HOMES ME!
Jenny says
HOMES ME!! Double shower heads, ftw.
Jennifer says
HOMES ME!
I would want an actual dining room area. We had an “eat in” kitchen that wasn’t practical for a table so right now it shares space with our great room.
Shelby says
HOMES ME!
I did just buy my first ever home and my must-have was space for a real dining room table. Maybe doesn’t seem like a big must but in a city, that can be tricky!
Amanda says
HOMES ME!
Actually looking to buy a new place now! Must haves include a two car garage, large kitchen, at least two bed/bath. Basically I just need more room than my tiny apartment can offer!
Chrissy says
Homes Me! I’m pretty happy with the new home we moved into 5 years ago. I’d just love to have walls that don’t have painting peeling off of them!
Carrie says
Homes me! In our next house we want an eat in kitchen, especially if we can get more cupboard space!
Megan says
Homes me! If we were to purchase today, we would buy a move in ready home with at least 2 1/2 baths. We bought a fixer upper and are spending every last dime updating it. We had to go on vacation when our one bathroom was being renovated. Our optional splurge would be Jack and Jill bedrooms.
Carl Segura says
HOMES ME! We are actually buying a house right now and for us it was room to grow and potential to make it “our own”!
Jennie says
HOMES ME! Closets and bathrooms would be high on my priority list!
Jessie B. says
HOME ME! Since I’m living away from my family and friends, a guest bedroom would be nice – no more air mattress on the living room floor!
Joanna says
HOMES ME!
I would love a yard in my next home.
Aly says
Homes me a second bathroom! And a wider kitchen wouldn’t hurt…
Jennifer M says
HOMES ME! We JUST bought our first house, and I’m pretty happy with it! ;) However, in an ideal world, I’d find one that has a few more windows and a level yard!
Mary W. says
Homes me!
More square footage, not a split level. Bigger kitchen. Same neighborhood (or similar, close to work!).
Polly says
HOMES ME! My fiance and I are currently trying to move back to Virginia (Richmond, specifically!) and starting to look for homes. Our #1 home priority is age of the house. We love the character and craftsmanship of old homes.
Candace says
HOMES ME! I love my current home (we just celebrated one year at the house last week)! If I were to buy a new house, I would add more natural light and a larger (finished) master bathroom.
