Fab Freebie: Homes On Homepage

*** This giveaway is now closed. See who won below! ***

An early Christmas present (in the form of this $500 Visa gift card) has randomly chosen to come to the hands of… Mary (whose dream house would be a “big cozy log cabin out in the woods” complete with fishing pond, swimming pool, hot tub, huge whirlpool tub in her bathroom and a giant walk in closet. Her fantasy list doesn’t end there, so check out her comment for the rest). Congrats Mary!

With a URL as broad as Homes.com, there are a lot of topics you might think they cover. Because people buy homes. They decorate homes. They do home improvements. You get the idea. Well, Homes.com does cover all of those things – from all stages of the home buying process to decor and DIY. We especially enjoyed their home values and city profiles (because we’re nerds for stuff like that). But what you’ll probably enjoy the most is the chance to win a $500 Visa gift card from Homes.com this week. Yup, five hundred dolla dolla bills (in plastic form) to spend wherever you’d like for whatever stage of home ownership you’re currently enjoying. Oh yeah, and they’re also giving away a signed copy of our book over on their blog.

  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: We always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US (more on that here). This giveaway is open to The United States & Canada.

A full basement!! My husband and I are from the north where full basements are the norm, but where we live in VA very few have them because we are low to sea level and they often flood. Where do you put all your junk without a basement?

The top of my list for if I were to move right now would be a washer and dryer hookups! I live in an apartment that doesn’t even have hookups! After that I would definitely be looking at wall space and/or storage space.

HOMES ME! The must have for me is a huge fenced in yard so my two puppies can run free without my worry of something happening to them! We currently live right in the city with almost no yard and definitely no fence, so a fence is at the top of my dream home list!

HOMES ME! I’d add a finished patio to our little place – the yard needs a ton of work still, but it would be so nice if we had moved in to a place that had some of that done already.

My must haves would be a killer kitchen, a huge mudroom, a killer home theatre room in the basement for my husband and a fenced in backyard for our chocolate lab. Then, the whole family would be happy!

    Homes me!

Although we LOVE our new house that we’ve had for about six months, I would say that we would change the garage if we had the chance to do it over again. We have a three-car garage now which is wonderful, but my husband is a big DIY-er and car enthusiast so it has somehow gotten tight in space ALREADY.

    HOMES ME!!!

A garage… we don’t have one and don’t have room for one, but owning a home definitely means “stuff”! From snow blowers to lawnmowers to shovels to tools…. We have a nice size shed, but are putting a 3 sided addition off the back side (faces the driveway, front side is inside the fence line facing the yard), and that’s going to help with the mechanical stuff for sure, but we’d love a garage.

Homes me! If we were to purchase today, we would buy a move in ready home with at least 2 1/2 baths. We bought a fixer upper and are spending every last dime updating it. We had to go on vacation when our one bathroom was being renovated. Our optional splurge would be Jack and Jill bedrooms.
