Fab Freebie: Homes On Homepage

*** This giveaway is now closed. See who won below! ***

An early Christmas present (in the form of this $500 Visa gift card) has randomly chosen to come to the hands of… Mary (whose dream house would be a “big cozy log cabin out in the woods” complete with fishing pond, swimming pool, hot tub, huge whirlpool tub in her bathroom and a giant walk in closet. Her fantasy list doesn’t end there, so check out her comment for the rest). Congrats Mary!

With a URL as broad as Homes.com, there are a lot of topics you might think they cover. Because people buy homes. They decorate homes. They do home improvements. You get the idea. Well, Homes.com does cover all of those things – from all stages of the home buying process to decor and DIY. We especially enjoyed their home values and city profiles (because we’re nerds for stuff like that). But what you’ll probably enjoy the most is the chance to win a $500 Visa gift card from Homes.com this week. Yup, five hundred dolla dolla bills (in plastic form) to spend wherever you’d like for whatever stage of home ownership you’re currently enjoying. Oh yeah, and they’re also giving away a signed copy of our book over on their blog.

Homes Dot Com Giveaway

  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “HOMES ME!” and tell us…

  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 5th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: We always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US (more on that here). This giveaway is open to The United States & Canada.

I definitely want a bigger garage or a two-car garage in my next house. Our small garage is used for storage, but de-icing the car every morning is no fun!

I would make sure there was heat in the bathrooms; our house has a heat lamp in one bathroom, but no heat source in the other three, which is something I never thought to notice when we were in the market…

    HOMES ME!

If I were moving, I’d definitely head closer to work – no question about it. But I love my current house (even with it’s hour plus commute) so instead I’d like to 1) finish the basement 2) Open the kitchen up to the living room & den 3) Move laundry into basement 4) Add deck and patio to back of house 5) Finish half bath tear down/fix up — Haha, surprised I love it with all those TO DOs? Once they get done, it will be close to perfect! Now to find a money tree…

I would love a house that doesn’t have a million projects to do. And maybe one in the country. But I guess if we bought a house in the country we would get bored without the projects!

I don’t think I would buy a house with just one bathroom again. So, a master or second bathroom would be a must have in a new house.

    HOMES ME!

My dream has always been to have a mudroom. I don’t care what the rest of the house looks like – it could be made out of upcycled toilet seats for all I care. But when I finally save up enough money to buy a house, by God, it’s going to have a mudroom, with a constant pile of soccer cleats, raincoats, schoolbags, and all the other assorted items that say “A family lives here (and is pretty muddy).”

Homes Me! We are actually trying to buy a house TODAY! The negotiations are nerve-wracking! If we get this house, number one thing is to refinish the front door, which is original to the house (circa 1830). The current owner painted a crazy technicolor mural on it!
