An early Christmas present (in the form of this $500 Visa gift card) has randomly chosen to come to the hands of… Mary (whose dream house would be a “big cozy log cabin out in the woods” complete with fishing pond, swimming pool, hot tub, huge whirlpool tub in her bathroom and a giant walk in closet. Her fantasy list doesn’t end there, so check out her comment for the rest). Congrats Mary!
With a URL as broad as Homes.com, there are a lot of topics you might think they cover. Because people buy homes. They decorate homes. They do home improvements. You get the idea. Well, Homes.com does cover all of those things – from all stages of the home buying process to decor and DIY. We especially enjoyed their home values and city profiles (because we’re nerds for stuff like that). But what you’ll probably enjoy the most is the chance to win a $500 Visa gift card from Homes.com this week. Yup, five hundred dolla dolla bills (in plastic form) to spend wherever you’d like for whatever stage of home ownership you’re currently enjoying. Oh yeah, and they’re also giving away a signed copy of our book over on their blog.

Our current home doesn’t have a garage (not even a carport) & we’d really like one, so that would be on our must list. Another must would be a separate laundry room. Our washing machine & dryer are in our kitchen right now and they eat up a lot of space :(
Raquel says
HOMES ME!

Must haves: a fixer upper, doesn’t make sense to me to buy something already done, I like to make it my own. A yard. So many homes in my area have ZERO yards.
Lauren says
HOMES ME! I would want two bathrooms upstairs. It is honestly the ONLY downfall in our home and we love the neighborhood. Right now in our current situation we have one bathroom with three bedrooms and would like to have a space of our own in the master. (and the fact that it’s the size of a closet, for the baby-doll-of-a-baby-gnome…yeah it’s that small) Not going to lie, the 5hundo would go right into our stash we’re putting away to actually make the 2nd bathroom happen. HELP. (CROSSING OUR FINGERS!!!)
beth says
homes me! after living with one bathroom four two adults, one four year old and a potty training two year old, my next house must (must must must!) have at least 1.5 baths.

If I were out to purchase today I would look for a different arrangement… No dining room and a bigger kitchen/ living room arrangment or a home office instead. I would also look for a home that either had an additional detached garage or a place to build one!
Kiki says
HOMES ME! I would love my own photo studio! :)
Samantha says
HOMES ME!
My top priorities would be bedrooms not so close together and more wall space to disply art.
Carla says
Homes me! There’s always room for improvement.
Lisa in Seattle says
HOMES ME!
If we were to buy a different home today, it would need to have wildlife habitat options. I’d want a variety of native trees (deciduous and coniferous) and berrying shrubs to provide food, shelter and nesting locations. It’s funny, because I’m willing to “settle” quite a bit for the actual house, but you can’t DIY big trees.
Jamie D says
HOMES ME!
I would love a full size shower in the master bath- our current house just has a stall size. Makes for difficulty shaving my legs! We have room to expand, just need the funds!
Sara C says
HOMES ME!
My hubby and I just bought our first home, so I hate to even THINK about moving right now, but if I had to say anything, it would be a second bathroom!
Erin says
HOMES ME!
I would love a bigger house–nothing huge, just big enough to spread out some more and put out all my books. I’d also like a fireplace and a kitchen with more cabinets.
Jacqui says
HOMES ME!
I would look for something out in the country! No neighbours, no street lights just open air!
Alex says
HOMES ME!
My current must have is a fully functioning heating and cooling system. I would love to do away with all of the portable devices we use to maintain a comfy temp.
