Fab Freebie: Homes On Homepage

*** This giveaway is now closed. See who won below! ***

An early Christmas present (in the form of this $500 Visa gift card) has randomly chosen to come to the hands of… Mary (whose dream house would be a “big cozy log cabin out in the woods” complete with fishing pond, swimming pool, hot tub, huge whirlpool tub in her bathroom and a giant walk in closet. Her fantasy list doesn’t end there, so check out her comment for the rest). Congrats Mary!

With a URL as broad as Homes.com, there are a lot of topics you might think they cover. Because people buy homes. They decorate homes. They do home improvements. You get the idea. Well, Homes.com does cover all of those things – from all stages of the home buying process to decor and DIY. We especially enjoyed their home values and city profiles (because we’re nerds for stuff like that). But what you’ll probably enjoy the most is the chance to win a $500 Visa gift card from Homes.com this week. Yup, five hundred dolla dolla bills (in plastic form) to spend wherever you’d like for whatever stage of home ownership you’re currently enjoying. Oh yeah, and they’re also giving away a signed copy of our book over on their blog.

    HOMES ME!

We just bought and love our new home, but I definitely have moments of wishing we had a fourth bedroom/flex space and dual sinks in our master bath.

If I were to buy a new house, my biggest must-have is location. I would want to be a few blocks eastward from what I am now so that I am zones to a better school.

I would definitely look for more square footage in the rooms that we use frequently. I would rather have less rooms and more space in those we use than a bunch of rooms we rarely go in.

    HOMES ME!

I would look for a 3+ bedroom 2.5 baths home with a fenced in back yard for our dog (or at least one that has the option to add a fence), 2 parking spaces, lots of storage and natural light, a back deck or patio with room for a grill, and a good public school district in Baltimore County.

    HOMES ME!

If I could have anything in my next house, I would have a simply updated/renovated Kitchen along with a great yard that doesn’t have 3/4ths of an acre worth of trees (in the city mind you) with TONS of leaves I have to clean and relatively new energy efficient windows. Only those 3 SMALL things and I’d be great. :D

I’m actually in the process of buying my first house that was built in 1870! The biggest thing I can’t wait to enjoy is the fenced-in backyard. But the amazing wood floors, clawfoot tub, and all the rest of its charm make me swoon. This gift card would be awesome for a first time homebuyer!
