An early Christmas present (in the form of this $500 Visa gift card) has randomly chosen to come to the hands of… Mary (whose dream house would be a “big cozy log cabin out in the woods” complete with fishing pond, swimming pool, hot tub, huge whirlpool tub in her bathroom and a giant walk in closet. Her fantasy list doesn’t end there, so check out her comment for the rest). Congrats Mary!
With a URL as broad as Homes.com, there are a lot of topics you might think they cover. Because people buy homes. They decorate homes. They do home improvements. You get the idea. Well, Homes.com does cover all of those things – from all stages of the home buying process to decor and DIY. We especially enjoyed their home values and city profiles (because we’re nerds for stuff like that). But what you’ll probably enjoy the most is the chance to win a $500 Visa gift card from Homes.com this week. Yup, five hundred dolla dolla bills (in plastic form) to spend wherever you’d like for whatever stage of home ownership you’re currently enjoying. Oh yeah, and they’re also giving away a signed copy of our book over on their blog.

Homes me! This is easy, as we’re currently house hunting. We would love at least .25 acre lot and something built before 1970.
Jennifer says
HOMES ME!
Our next home would definitely need good bones. Everything else we can work around. :)
Cristy says
HOMES ME!
I would love to have a fireplace, laundry room on the main floor, and a little more space!
Sarah says
Homes me!
I just bought a house…. but if I would love a second bathroom. One is okay for the fiance & I, but as soon as we have a few guests over things get rough.

Madeline says
HOMES ME!
A completely updated kitchen and tons of storage!!
Kristen says
HOMES ME! I think right now my biggest must have would be laundry on the same level as the bedrooms. I’m so tired of carrying clothes up and down stairs!
Jenn says
HOMES ME!
I need a (heated?!) garage to do all of my home improvement DIYing in, last weekend I built a doll bed on my kitchen table #needabiggerhome!
Amy says
Homes me! If I were to buy a new house today, it would have a bigger yard with more shade!
Laura M says
Homes Me! A view and an awesome closet.
Holley with an E says
HOMES ME! Buying a house today, the must have would be a wood-burning fireplace. I had one in the last house but not in the current one. I miss it so much!
Lauren says
homes me. definitely a garage.
Brianna says
HOMES ME! More bedrooms!! We thought the kids would be fine to share but with 4 of them, they are craving their own space even more as they get older!
Gaelle says
HOMES ME!
I would look for more square footage, in particular an extra room so we can have a proper guest room.
Bonnie says
homes me!
I’d choose a neighborhood with a good community of people! No matter how much you remodel, you can’t remodel your neighbors!
Sarah says
HOMES ME!
I would look for another bedroom, or a kitchen open to the living area so I could feel included in the “party” while I’m in there cooking every day.
Kristin says
HOMES ME! I would love to be able to walk to the grocery store, library, coffee shop, locally owned delicious restaurant…things like that.
Stephanie says
HOMES ME! A ranch style floor plan. No more 2-story homes for me in the future! What were we thinking when we built this house 5 years ago? We’re not getting any younger and those stairs are for the birds!
Nate says
HOMES ME!
We’re looking for more space for our growing family!
Jill K says
HOMES ME! I would love to have a walk-in closet in the master with laundry built in.
Heather says
Homes me!! If we ever move again, I’ll make sure that we still have access to wild space. Right now we back up to woods and I just know our little guy (15 mos) is going to love playing in them when he’s older!
Summer says
HOMES ME!
I would look for a neighborhood with good schools and a good recreation department/park district because it helps keep your housing values. (and it’s good for our little dude as well!)
SaraH says
More square footage, for sure!
michelle p says
HOMES ME! I want a smaller house. Two people require less space than we thought!
Melanie says
HOMES ME!!!
I must have a washing machine!! I live in a NYC apartment and cannot wait for the day that I don’t have to pay someone the privilege of washing my own clothes.
Sara says
HOMES ME! My must haves in my next home include charm and hardwood floors. We are in a newer build home with awful laminate floors and wall-to-wall carpeting. I cannot stand either of them!
Sarah says
HOMES ME! I don’t have any kids (yet) so I think I would like a really large master suite.
Ashley says
HOMES ME!
Sink over the kitchen window, hands down. I wish I had one!
Les says
Homes me!
I AM in the process of buying a house, and my #1 = good, clean construction (walls/plastering, electrical wiring, heating system, etc. etc.).
The structural stuff is what scare me the most, as it’s the hardest (and most expensive) thing to fix! So that’s my #1 must-have.

Homes me!!!
We’re house shopping right now and definitely looking for more square footage and a bigger yard. Something that will grow with our family because we’d like it to be our home for the next 10-ish years????
Melissa says
HOMES ME! I would definitely like a bigger master bathroom. It gets a little crowded in there in the morning (especially with our kitten hanging out in there too, sprawled out on the small bathroom counter like he owns the place).
Heather W says
HOMES ME! I would want a ranch with an open floor plan and a pool!
Meredith says
HOMES ME!
Melody says
Homes me!!!
If we bought a new house, I would want to make sure the porch is insulated! We learned this the hard way and now have a space heater AND window unit for our favorite room in the house.
Laura says
HOMES ME!
We just moved so I’m pretty content although our new place is an older home with no overhead lights in the bedrooms so that is my current wish list!
sally G says
“HOMES ME!” – As boring as it sounds… more square footage. It would be nice to have the kids’ rooms further away from each other so there was less chance to them waking each other up at various sleep times throughout the day and night!
Sarah K. says
HOMES ME! I love the walkability of our neighborhood! Location is key!
Kristin says
Homes Me! If we were still in New England a big, attached heat garage!
Sarah says
HOMES ME!
I would love my next home to be a rancher…too many stairs for my toddler to get around in our three story townhouse
Ashley says
HOMES ME!
We just bought a house a few months ago and it fits all of our needs, but needs some TLC! $500 would be very handy right now. :)
Carolyn says
HOMES ME!!! Pleassssse. Have to have a fireplace. Above all else.
Yvonne says
HOME ME!!!
Location…closer to work, still close to Gram & Pa’s for childcare.
Three bedrooms.
Closet space :)
Kim says
Homes me! Bigger yard, 2nd bathroom, & garage.
Martha says
Homes Me! A bigger Kitchen
Brynn says
Homes Me!
If i were to buy right now, it would REALLY be move in ready, it would be a ranch, and it would have better bones!
Steph says
HOMES ME!
I just bought a house 6 months ago, I don’t think I can do it again just yet! LOL But if I did, I’d buy a single family home, I bought a townhouse this time and love it but the next upgrade will definitely be single family. :)
Debbie says
HOMES ME!
I’ve lived in a big house and a small house so space and the such doesn’t matter to me – the one thing I would HAVE to have if I bought a new house would be a dishwasher! I am so tired of washing dishes in the sink!
(and maybe a nice soaking tub, too, but I wouldn’t push it haha)
Cheryl M says
HOMES ME!
Honestly, the thing I would most want in a new house is a larger kitchen with better counter/storage space.
Bethany Soelberg says
HOMES ME!
We have a duplex which we live in and rent out …. So more square footage and more character – I would love a historic home!
