An early Christmas present (in the form of this $500 Visa gift card) has randomly chosen to come to the hands of… Mary (whose dream house would be a “big cozy log cabin out in the woods” complete with fishing pond, swimming pool, hot tub, huge whirlpool tub in her bathroom and a giant walk in closet. Her fantasy list doesn’t end there, so check out her comment for the rest). Congrats Mary!
With a URL as broad as Homes.com, there are a lot of topics you might think they cover. Because people buy homes. They decorate homes. They do home improvements. You get the idea. Well, Homes.com does cover all of those things – from all stages of the home buying process to decor and DIY. We especially enjoyed their home values and city profiles (because we’re nerds for stuff like that). But what you’ll probably enjoy the most is the chance to win a $500 Visa gift card from Homes.com this week. Yup, five hundred dolla dolla bills (in plastic form) to spend wherever you’d like for whatever stage of home ownership you’re currently enjoying. Oh yeah, and they’re also giving away a signed copy of our book over on their blog.

Homes me! – living in NYC I would love to have some quality outdoors space in the West Village – a girl can dream right?
Corinne says
HOMES ME!
I would look for a much bigger kitchen – preferably one that was just asking to be torn out so that I could design one to be exactly what I wanted. I’m still a renter, and I can’t wait to have a kitchen to make my own someday!
Brooke says
HOMES ME!
Any future home would need more square footage, another bathroom (2 people + 1 teeny-tiny bathroom = misery), and a yard for our dog.
Sara W says
HOMES ME!
I would have to have a fire place!!
Rebecca says
Homes me: we bought our first house a year and a half ago, and I’m feeling now that the only thing really missing is the fourth bedroom (aka my study, so I don’t have to work in the living room. Sigh).
Lisa R. says
HOMES ME! My must have would have to be a single level (I hate stairs!) and the laundry room near the bedrooms.
Ashley G. says
HOMES ME! I would love a great big kitchen with lots of counter space =)
Christine says
Homes me! The only thing that is a must is lots of natural light!
Sarah says
HOMES ME! We just bought our place (and love it), but we’d definitely take a little more wiggle room in the garage!
Andrea says
HOMES ME!
A nice kitchen with lots of working space, place in the backyard for a garden, fireplace, and a nice big family room for memories to be made!
Isabela says
Homes me!
I would love to have a spacious and sunny mudroom/laundry room, with entrance from the back, a sink, and plenty of storage.
Colleen says
HOMES ME! We could use a bit more space and I’d love to have a home with a beautiful entry-way to decorate!
Jade says
HOMES ME! Please :)
I would totally look for a house with a pantry…. because we don’t have one right now!
Elegan Kramer says
Homes Me!
If I were to buy a home today, I’d buy one with a backyard for my dog to run around in.
Tiara says
HOMES ME!
It’s something I never thought to look for when buying our house, but now living in a home without a window facing the front of the house anywhere on the 1st floor that will be #1 on my “must have” list for any future home.
Maura says
Homes me!
I’d love a larger back yard. I’m in the middle of a DIY patio that turned into an entire backyard hang out spot, but I miss a little grass.
Hanne says
HOMES ME!
my dream is to renovate an old little bungalow, probably won’t ever happen though :P
Dena says
HOMES ME! So many things on our list – proximity to a train/bus to the city, taxes, schools, etc. Perhaps that’s why we’re kind of paralyzed and haven’t started the process yet! Yikes!
Sara says
HOMES ME! An extra bedroom…we only have 2 right now and I’m dying for a 3rd.
Andrea F. says
Homes me! I would demand a huge closet!
Alison says
HOMES ME! I love our current home, but I would love for our next home to have a separate dining room – right now we just have an eat-in kitchen.
Bridget =) says
HOMES ME!
I’d love to have a patio out to a firepit and/or pool!
Katie says
HOMES ME! Location would definitely be top on my list – the only thing you can’t change!
Erin P says
HOMES ME!
A finished 3rd floor or basement would be nice…
kate C. says
HOMES ME! That depends on whether I’ve just won the lottery or not… if not, the house we bought last year is still awesome, though if I could immediately replace the super-old sliding doors to the back deck that would be great. Oh, and the back yard could be a bit flatter. But yeah, we love our house. If we have just won the lottery… well, perhaps we could find something we love just a bit more. :)
Brady says
Homes me!
Top of my list: A Master bedroom with enough room for the bed to be out from the wall so neither of us have to crawl out of the foot of the bed.
That one is hopefully easy. Now on to the billion other items on the list…
Jennifer says
HOMES ME!
Mary H says
HOMES ME!
A sun room, i’d live in a glass house if I could find someone to wash all the windows for me. :)
Rosie says
Homes me! I would love a bigger yard so that I could finally do some landscaping and work those green thumb skills :)
Kate M says
HOMES ME!
If I bought a new house, I’d want a house (not a town home) where I could have a garden, let my kiddo play outside in a yard (not a parking lot) and it would have a window in the kitchen. Yes, I’m very picky, I know.
Linda says
HOMES ME!
I would love at least one more bedroom, so that I could have a guest room and/or office. Or both.
Katie says
Homes Me!
I would not buy a house without a linen closet ever again!
Kim says
HOMES ME!
My next house ‘must have’ is a front porch. An ensuite bathroom wouldn’t hurt either!
Theresa W says
HOMES ME!
I want a mudroom or some type of area for all the shoes, coats, etc that 3 children bring home :)
Kristina says
HOMES ME!
I just recently purchased my home from a family member but if I was house hunting now, I would definitely be looking for a back yard, preferable fenced in :)
Katy S says
HOMES ME! We sold our house last spring and are living in an apartment until we find the next house. A walk in closet is a must!
Ruth P. says
HOMES ME!
I’d look for something close to work, definitely, with plenty of room for entertaining!
Mandy says
HOMES ME!
If I were to buy a house today it would be, well, my first house ever! I’m an apartment dweller and I yearn for a real kitchen with counter space! I pine for larger closets! I swoon for walls I can paint!
Deandra says
A big backyard with big trees and big windows on the back of the house, so you could always feel like you’re outside.
Lisa G. says
Homes me! I want a house with a backyard for my new daughter and two dogs!
Karen Kohl says
HOMES ME! Another bedroom, with a little one on the way we’re getting very cramped for space with only 2! Oh and a garage, apartment living doesn’t really allow for one.
Vicki says
HOMES ME!
I’d love a bigger mudroom/laundry room. We’ve done our best to organize and keep it tidy, but the pass through to the garage is just too small.
Charlie G says
HOMES ME! I need more sq footage for a crawling baby.
Stephanie says
HOMES ME!
The question is more like what WOULDN’T be on the list! After owning your first home, I think you get a MUCH better idea of what you will and won’t want the second time around :)
Lisa Taylor says
Homes Me!
More square footage is the need I’m hoping to see in the next home!
Pallavi says

A laundry room on the same floor as the bedrooms.
