Fab Freebie: Homes On Homepage

*** This giveaway is now closed. See who won below! ***

An early Christmas present (in the form of this $500 Visa gift card) has randomly chosen to come to the hands of… Mary (whose dream house would be a “big cozy log cabin out in the woods” complete with fishing pond, swimming pool, hot tub, huge whirlpool tub in her bathroom and a giant walk in closet. Her fantasy list doesn’t end there, so check out her comment for the rest). Congrats Mary!

With a URL as broad as Homes.com, there are a lot of topics you might think they cover. Because people buy homes. They decorate homes. They do home improvements. You get the idea. Well, Homes.com does cover all of those things – from all stages of the home buying process to decor and DIY. We especially enjoyed their home values and city profiles (because we’re nerds for stuff like that). But what you’ll probably enjoy the most is the chance to win a $500 Visa gift card from Homes.com this week. Yup, five hundred dolla dolla bills (in plastic form) to spend wherever you’d like for whatever stage of home ownership you’re currently enjoying. Oh yeah, and they’re also giving away a signed copy of our book over on their blog.

Homes Dot Com Giveaway

  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “HOMES ME!” and tell us…

  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 5th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: We always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US (more on that here). This giveaway is open to The United States & Canada.

If I were to buy a new house today, it would probably be a condo or a complex where someone else is responsible for all yard work. I’m a plant killer. My neighbors would hate me if it wasn’t for my green thumb husband.

I’d love to live in my same neighborhood (it’s a historic district very close in to DC) but in the 3-BR instead of our 2.5. Now that would be perfect…

I’d look for a place walkable to something–a park, shopping, school, etc. We’re in a nice neighborhood, but right off of a busy street, so we have to drive everywhere.

It would have to be a bungalow! My 4-year-old is my oldest of three kiddos and he is in a wheelchair but such a firecracker. Would love to have a bungalow instead of the three storey we have for him. :(

    HOMES ME!

I love my current home, and love making everything over. We were very fortunate to find a great home with great “bones” when we were house hunting. Now, we’re just having fun updating and redoing things how we want them. BUT, if I were shopping today, I would look for more acreage. My long-term goal is to have at least 5 acres with a few outbuildings. We only have a little over 1 acre now, so more outdoor space is my dream.

HOMES ME! This subject is near and dear to my heart as we are in the process of closing on a house this week. Good schools and a sense of community, yard, workshop, and space to grow into were at the top of the list. Since no one flies a helicopter (!) the pad wasn’t important!

Homes Me!! If we were to buy a new home today, we’d be looking for a master bedroom NON-adjacent to the kitchen. We spend the majority of our time with guests in the kitchen, but when one of us wants to stay up late or get up early, we must be in any other room but the kitchen or else the other person will not be able to sleep.
