An early Christmas present (in the form of this $500 Visa gift card) has randomly chosen to come to the hands of… Mary (whose dream house would be a “big cozy log cabin out in the woods” complete with fishing pond, swimming pool, hot tub, huge whirlpool tub in her bathroom and a giant walk in closet. Her fantasy list doesn’t end there, so check out her comment for the rest). Congrats Mary!
With a URL as broad as Homes.com, there are a lot of topics you might think they cover. Because people buy homes. They decorate homes. They do home improvements. You get the idea. Well, Homes.com does cover all of those things – from all stages of the home buying process to decor and DIY. We especially enjoyed their home values and city profiles (because we’re nerds for stuff like that). But what you’ll probably enjoy the most is the chance to win a $500 Visa gift card from Homes.com this week. Yup, five hundred dolla dolla bills (in plastic form) to spend wherever you’d like for whatever stage of home ownership you’re currently enjoying. Oh yeah, and they’re also giving away a signed copy of our book over on their blog.

A quiet street without a single yellow line.
Alexis says
HOMES ME!
I’d love a bigger kitchen!
Sheena says
Homes me! If I bought a house TODAY it would have to be in a bike commutable location…I haven’t driven my car to work in 6 years!
Mim says
HOMES ME! It’s funny, now that we have lived so long without one, I realize I really wish I had a fireplace.
Mark S says
“HOMES ME!”
I’d want an area in the house or a shed for a workshop. Right now I have to either use my garage (to the detriment of my being able to park in it) or my basement whose ceilings are too low.
Megan says
Homes me! I would opt for a smaller yard. As we’ve been putting in our yard now (the backyard was just dirt when we bought the place) I’m realizing that it’s going to be an uphill battle on maintenance.
Ashley says
HOME ME!
We need bigger bathrooms!
Alanna says
Homes me! I would love to live in a better neighborhood with more land and home space!

Homes me!
I definitely want a third bedroom and extra bath in my next house.

HOMES ME! I’d want a more updated kitchen, because 4 years later and we still haven’t saved enough to get rid of the knotty pine cabinets and yellow Formica counters. Blech!
Krysti says
HOMES ME!
we’re in the process of adopting (YAY!) so it would have to be someplace in a good school district, with TWO baths

A home without mold. That is all. Sigh…;-)
Laura says
HOMES ME! I wish our kitchen was newer! All in good time. We’re DIYers, so its been an inspiration to see what you’ve done with your kitchens
Sarah says
HOMES ME!!! We did just buy a home…and I would have to say a garage! But I’m thankful for the extra rooms we do have to serve as storage, until that garage comes along :)
Emma LaQue says
HOMES ME!
My husband and I both want to own land with our next house, so the first thing we would be looking for would be some acreage, preferrably in a rural area close to a major city.
Heather {ModernMealsforTwo} says
Homes me!
We really want our next home to be in something strange, like an old school building or unused commercial space. It’s like the best form of recycling… err homecycling :)
Kathryn says
HOMES ME!
I would look for a home with a nice backyard and an existing deck of some sort.. or something that has the potential for a diy backyard space!!
Katie R. says
HOMES ME! A neighborhood in a great school district close to work.
Aisha says
Homes Me! I would like a house where everything wasn’t a project needing to be done… I’ve done fine so far but taking a such a huge project as a single “poor” lady has been difficult. Oh well you live and you learn. I love my house though!
Kelly says
HOMES ME! Location and square footage are musts!
Miranda W. says
HOMES ME!!
Having only been in this house for a year and a half, there’s not much I would change. If I were buying tomorrow I’d say a Christmas tree window would be all I need, provided everything else stayed the same. Not much of a list huh? It’s the only thing I don’t like…nowhere to put the tree that I can see it from outside.
Molly says
Homes me! I’m a renter. If I were in the market for a house I suppose top priorities would be an easy commute, natural light, and open floor plan.
Brian says
Homes me! A designated play room. Too many toys.
Bethany says
Homes me!
I’m a renter, so I’d love to own something that I could make changes to.

Becca says
HOMES ME please!
A finished basement.
IWannaBeKate says
HOMES ME!!
I’d like an open layout so we wouldn’t need to break the bank on remodeling, and CENTRAL AIR (not very common in the northeast, but sorely needed!!)
Kerry says
HOMES ME! My #1 must have in a new home would be a washer and dryer hookup on the same floor as the bedrooms. Ours is down in the basement and we cloth diaper so… There is a lot of laundry hiking!
gingela5 says
Homes me! One thing I must have in my next home is a pantry!
Bridget says
HOMES ME!
A big front porch! My husband and I have already agreed that it’s a must for our next home.

HOMES ME!! A new home for us would have to have a big back yard!! We have 3 very active kids!
Katy LL says
HOMES ME! I need a bigger yard!
Amber says
Homes me! We are struggling to sell now because of location. The saying rings true- location, location, location!!!

HOMES ME! I so so so need another bedroom. Our baby has kicked us out of our bedroom! My husband and I sleep on the couch… we keep hoping he will adjust to sleeping in his crib in the room he shares with his sister, but no luck yet.
Stephanie says
HOMES ME!!!!
I would definitely love more sqaure footage and hardwoods! I have a great big backyard though. And so many updates I want to do to my small little home right now.
Happy holidays!
Jeremy says
HOMES ME!
Closer to work and big yard.
Jenny says
HOMES ME! My next house would have to have a kitchen and bathrooms that need no renovation. I’m ready for a break ;o)
Michelle says
HOMES ME!
.
Crystal says
HOMES ME!
I’d love one of the little co-housing condo units down the road from us. All the benefits of small space living, as well as shared community resources (Like gardening, a large restaurant style kitchen, etc.)
Steph says
HOMES ME!
I’d love more space (our house is only 2-bedroom/1.5-bath), but square footage can always be added…so if we were buying again, my #1 priority would be proximity to civilization. We’re in a pretty rural area right now (after spending 7 years in NYC!), and sometimes I feel SO isolated. I really miss seeing people and being able to walk places and having more than one restaurant option!
megan says
Homes Me!

Definitely a bigger yard… and a master bedroom that isn’t over a garage!
Katy says
Homes Me!
I’d love for my next house to have more square footage. Our house suddenly became much smaller after the birth of our first child!
Kristine says
Homes me! I would want more square footage…especially a playroom so I could get all these toys out of my living room!
