Fab Freebie: Homes On Homepage

*** This giveaway is now closed. See who won below! ***

An early Christmas present (in the form of this $500 Visa gift card) has randomly chosen to come to the hands of… Mary (whose dream house would be a “big cozy log cabin out in the woods” complete with fishing pond, swimming pool, hot tub, huge whirlpool tub in her bathroom and a giant walk in closet. Her fantasy list doesn’t end there, so check out her comment for the rest). Congrats Mary!

With a URL as broad as Homes.com, there are a lot of topics you might think they cover. Because people buy homes. They decorate homes. They do home improvements. You get the idea. Well, Homes.com does cover all of those things – from all stages of the home buying process to decor and DIY. We especially enjoyed their home values and city profiles (because we’re nerds for stuff like that). But what you’ll probably enjoy the most is the chance to win a $500 Visa gift card from Homes.com this week. Yup, five hundred dolla dolla bills (in plastic form) to spend wherever you’d like for whatever stage of home ownership you’re currently enjoying. Oh yeah, and they’re also giving away a signed copy of our book over on their blog.

    “HOMES ME!”

I’d want an area in the house or a shed for a workshop. Right now I have to either use my garage (to the detriment of my being able to park in it) or my basement whose ceilings are too low.

Homes me! I would opt for a smaller yard. As we’ve been putting in our yard now (the backyard was just dirt when we bought the place) I’m realizing that it’s going to be an uphill battle on maintenance.

My husband and I both want to own land with our next house, so the first thing we would be looking for would be some acreage, preferrably in a rural area close to a major city.

Having only been in this house for a year and a half, there’s not much I would change. If I were buying tomorrow I’d say a Christmas tree window would be all I need, provided everything else stayed the same. Not much of a list huh? It’s the only thing I don’t like…nowhere to put the tree that I can see it from outside.

    HOMES ME!

I’d love more space (our house is only 2-bedroom/1.5-bath), but square footage can always be added…so if we were buying again, my #1 priority would be proximity to civilization. We’re in a pretty rural area right now (after spending 7 years in NYC!), and sometimes I feel SO isolated. I really miss seeing people and being able to walk places and having more than one restaurant option!
