Fab Freebie: Homes On Homepage

*** This giveaway is now closed. See who won below! ***

An early Christmas present (in the form of this $500 Visa gift card) has randomly chosen to come to the hands of… Mary (whose dream house would be a “big cozy log cabin out in the woods” complete with fishing pond, swimming pool, hot tub, huge whirlpool tub in her bathroom and a giant walk in closet. Her fantasy list doesn’t end there, so check out her comment for the rest). Congrats Mary!

With a URL as broad as Homes.com, there are a lot of topics you might think they cover. Because people buy homes. They decorate homes. They do home improvements. You get the idea. Well, Homes.com does cover all of those things – from all stages of the home buying process to decor and DIY. We especially enjoyed their home values and city profiles (because we’re nerds for stuff like that). But what you’ll probably enjoy the most is the chance to win a $500 Visa gift card from Homes.com this week. Yup, five hundred dolla dolla bills (in plastic form) to spend wherever you’d like for whatever stage of home ownership you’re currently enjoying. Oh yeah, and they’re also giving away a signed copy of our book over on their blog.

Homes me! I would want a place with a large living area — although I LOVE my house now, the living room is small, and I really can see the benefits of having lots of lounging space for everyone.

    HOMES ME!

We’re actually looking for house number 2 and the must-have list includes a separate dining room, bonus room to be used as a “man” room, five bedrooms (or 4 with a separate office/study)and it must be in the school district we want.

HOMES ME! My number one wish — if I was buying a new house — would be for location, like a cul de sac or a a quiet side street no traffic. My home has been in my family for 3 generations, so we’re keeping it, but it’s on a very busy road.

    Homes Me!
We actually recently bought a new home and the “must haves” were:

    1. Close to my work
    2. 2 bathrooms
    3. Corner lot so that we can have a garage hidden from the front in the future
    4. Low low price point compared to the neighborhood average so our home improvements won’t put us out of value range.

We got everything but the second bathroom… we did get a layout where I can see where to easy-ish add one (and an excellent price point that allows for the added value in the future).

    HOMES ME!

Looking for a home in a great school district and needs to be a ranch – since my husband is in a wheelchair. A bathroom that needs remodeling would be best – since we’ll have to gut it anyway to make it usable for him. Hate redoing a nice bathroom. :)

I would undoubtedly require more counter space in the kitchen. I do not have enough, and what I do have is choppy.

I love the house I’m in now, but to move to a new one would definitely require a bigger yard. We have 0.17 acres right now, with the back part of it wooded, and our dogs are always telling us how tiny that is (by running off to explore elsewhere!)
