Fab Freebie: Homes On Homepage

*** This giveaway is now closed. See who won below! ***

An early Christmas present (in the form of this $500 Visa gift card) has randomly chosen to come to the hands of… Mary (whose dream house would be a “big cozy log cabin out in the woods” complete with fishing pond, swimming pool, hot tub, huge whirlpool tub in her bathroom and a giant walk in closet. Her fantasy list doesn’t end there, so check out her comment for the rest). Congrats Mary!

With a URL as broad as Homes.com, there are a lot of topics you might think they cover. Because people buy homes. They decorate homes. They do home improvements. You get the idea. Well, Homes.com does cover all of those things – from all stages of the home buying process to decor and DIY. We especially enjoyed their home values and city profiles (because we’re nerds for stuff like that). But what you’ll probably enjoy the most is the chance to win a $500 Visa gift card from Homes.com this week. Yup, five hundred dolla dolla bills (in plastic form) to spend wherever you’d like for whatever stage of home ownership you’re currently enjoying. Oh yeah, and they’re also giving away a signed copy of our book over on their blog.

Homes me… If I were to buy a new house today, a must have for me would be: A completely brand new kitchen! That seems to be the hardest/most tedious DIY project(which is why we haven’t done ours yet)

    HOMES ME!

We just closed on new construction at the end of August, a custom home that we’ve found one thing we wish we’d done differently-a pocket door between the master bath and closet. I’d take the $500 and put it towards making it a pocket door now.

Homes me! We actually just built our dream house but if I had to do it all over again my next house would have a huge designated mud room/laundry room with one of those schoolhouse trough sinks. That’s the only thing we didn’t squeeze into our current house that was o the wish list :)

I would love a larger, more open kitchen/dining/den space. I love our current house, but it gets kind of tight in that area after about 6 people.

HOMES ME!! I actually really love our home, but down the road, I would love to have something that was more energy-efficient. It’s ALWAYS cold in here, and with oil heat, it’s super expensive to heat. And a few cozy fireplaces would be nice!

Homes me! Or Holmes me, ’cause the guy who plays Sherlock Holmes on the new ‘Elementary’ is pretty good lookin’… I digress… if I bought a new home, I’d say it would have to have a larger kitchen than I have now, preferably a kitchen that didn’t have navy blue counters and a matching navy blue dishwasher and navy blue refrigerator. :)

HOMES ME! We actually just bought a house about 2 months ago and we found it by using Homes.com which was seriously such an awesome tool! I loved how easy it was to use and totally recommend it to everyone! But anyway, at the top of our list was living close to the greenway that runs through our area. We lived on it when we first got married and loved how easily we could ride or run to almost anywhere we needed to go (it spans for almost 40 miles). We only lived in that location though for about a year and then moved farther away from greenway access. Now though, we’re back on it…it’s literally in our backyard and we are soooooooooo excited for it to get warm again so we can be back on it all the time! Sorry! That was such a long answer, but I just totally love The Monon (that’s what our greenway is called) and I love our new house!
