Fab Freebie: Homes On Homepage

*** This giveaway is now closed. See who won below! ***

An early Christmas present (in the form of this $500 Visa gift card) has randomly chosen to come to the hands of… Mary (whose dream house would be a “big cozy log cabin out in the woods” complete with fishing pond, swimming pool, hot tub, huge whirlpool tub in her bathroom and a giant walk in closet. Her fantasy list doesn’t end there, so check out her comment for the rest). Congrats Mary!

With a URL as broad as Homes.com, there are a lot of topics you might think they cover. Because people buy homes. They decorate homes. They do home improvements. You get the idea. Well, Homes.com does cover all of those things – from all stages of the home buying process to decor and DIY. We especially enjoyed their home values and city profiles (because we’re nerds for stuff like that). But what you’ll probably enjoy the most is the chance to win a $500 Visa gift card from Homes.com this week. Yup, five hundred dolla dolla bills (in plastic form) to spend wherever you’d like for whatever stage of home ownership you’re currently enjoying. Oh yeah, and they’re also giving away a signed copy of our book over on their blog.

    HOMES ME!

As renters, the bf and I have a long, long, loooooong list of “must-haves” for our next place…whether it’s another rental or (gulp!) an actual house of our very own. But tied for the top spot on my list is a bigger, workable kitchen (we have appx. 2 feet of counter space in our current, un-updated, inconvenient kitchen), and a walk-in closet. What can I say? I have my priorities straight :)

We JUST built our house. We’ve only been here two months but it still feels like a dream. My “have to’s” included a large kitchen, 4+ bedrooms, and an open floor plan cause we love entertaining!

    HOMES ME!

A working kitchen containing cabinets with doors. We lost ours the day we moved, when hubby flipped his pickup during a move. Our freshly-painted cabinet doors were destroyed and insurance didn’t cover new ones. And I’ve been living with a kitchen with no cabinet doors for nearly six years.

Homes me!! I think a requirement for my next house will be that it is all one level. I have found that 1 – I have approximately 3 near falls every week down our stairs and 2 – all wood stairs are a PAIN to keep clean in a house with 5 people, 2 dogs & 1 rabbit.

Homes me! Well, we are looking to make a big move here sometime in the next six months or so…and while my list could be a mile long full of wishlist items the biggest on that list would be to be able to own a period home. If I could choose, it would probably be a Victorian era home or possibly French Eclectic. I would take anything…I just want a home that screams character!

Location, location, location! For our next house, we will look for a more walkable neighborhood. Close restaurants, bars, stores, schools. Our current neighborhoods doesn’t have sidewalks. It makes it hard to walk home from work or go for a run safely. Hind sight…
