An early Christmas present (in the form of this $500 Visa gift card) has randomly chosen to come to the hands of… Mary (whose dream house would be a “big cozy log cabin out in the woods” complete with fishing pond, swimming pool, hot tub, huge whirlpool tub in her bathroom and a giant walk in closet. Her fantasy list doesn’t end there, so check out her comment for the rest). Congrats Mary!
With a URL as broad as Homes.com, there are a lot of topics you might think they cover. Because people buy homes. They decorate homes. They do home improvements. You get the idea. Well, Homes.com does cover all of those things – from all stages of the home buying process to decor and DIY. We especially enjoyed their home values and city profiles (because we’re nerds for stuff like that). But what you’ll probably enjoy the most is the chance to win a $500 Visa gift card from Homes.com this week. Yup, five hundred dolla dolla bills (in plastic form) to spend wherever you’d like for whatever stage of home ownership you’re currently enjoying. Oh yeah, and they’re also giving away a signed copy of our book over on their blog.

HOMES ME! A bigger kitchen.

HOMES ME!
As renters, the bf and I have a long, long, loooooong list of “must-haves” for our next place…whether it’s another rental or (gulp!) an actual house of our very own. But tied for the top spot on my list is a bigger, workable kitchen (we have appx. 2 feet of counter space in our current, un-updated, inconvenient kitchen), and a walk-in closet. What can I say? I have my priorities straight :)

HOMES ME!i am currently living in an apartment so the thing i am most excited for is having my own laundry room!
Liz says
Homes me please!! I would need double sinks in my next house :)

HOME ME – I would love a super high ceiling, like 35 feet, in my next home so I can rig circus equipment :)
Kati says
HOMES ME!
A laundry room on the same floor as all the bedrooms!
Julie says
HOMES ME!
The most important thing in my next home will be more bedrooms! Right now my husband and I live in a 1 bedroom loft and we’ll need more for future kiddos :)
Louisa says
HOMES ME! I’m pretty happy with our house, we have done a lot of work on it. I would love to have a some land, though, maybe an acre, with some room between neighbors.

HOMES ME!
While I love my home I really wish the laundry were on the same floor as all the bedrooms or that I had a ranch house again. I miss my ranch house sometimes.

Home me!!
We JUST built our house. We’ve only been here two months but it still feels like a dream. My “have to’s” included a large kitchen, 4+ bedrooms, and an open floor plan cause we love entertaining!
Sherry J says
Homes me! Three car garage!
mp says
HOMES ME!
A working kitchen containing cabinets with doors. We lost ours the day we moved, when hubby flipped his pickup during a move. Our freshly-painted cabinet doors were destroyed and insurance didn’t cover new ones. And I’ve been living with a kitchen with no cabinet doors for nearly six years.

Living among all my craft projects seems impossible some days!

HOMES ME! We’d need more square footage, a bigger garage, and a privary fence!
Kelli says
I would be looking for a yard for our dog to run around in – we’re lacking that luxury with the apartment we’re living in now!
Katie says
HOMES ME! I just want central air and a dishwasher.
Skittle says
Homes me!! I think a requirement for my next house will be that it is all one level. I have found that 1 – I have approximately 3 near falls every week down our stairs and 2 – all wood stairs are a PAIN to keep clean in a house with 5 people, 2 dogs & 1 rabbit.
Lindy says
Homes Me!
Pool for sure! But also a better school district. It’s one of those things that you didn’t really think about before you have kidos.
Sarah H says
Homes me! I truly would like to live in a neighborhood with better schools, but as far as the one amenity I would love to have in my next house is a full laundry room and not a laundry closet!
Chelsea says
Homes me! Well, we are looking to make a big move here sometime in the next six months or so…and while my list could be a mile long full of wishlist items the biggest on that list would be to be able to own a period home. If I could choose, it would probably be a Victorian era home or possibly French Eclectic. I would take anything…I just want a home that screams character!
Tricia says
homes me!
would love to have a kitchen island to spread out on for cooking :)
Andrea says
HOMES ME!! We definitely need 5 bedrooms for our 4 kids but 6 would be even better. I also would love a swimmimg pool!!
Courtney says
HOMES ME!
Location, location, location! For our next house, we will look for a more walkable neighborhood. Close restaurants, bars, stores, schools. Our current neighborhoods doesn’t have sidewalks. It makes it hard to walk home from work or go for a run safely. Hind sight…
Cinamon says
“HOMES ME!” – Pool for sure!
Jen D. says
HOMES ME!
A yard with enough room to garden AND let the kids run around in and the walk-ability of the neighborhood tie for 1st place right now. :)

Homes me! Would love hardwood floors and a huge sunk in tub in the master.

Homes me! Since we just gave up my office/ studio/ sewing room to make room for baby #2 on the way, I’d say I would need to add that to the must have list!

If I were buying again (less than a year since we bought our current house!!), I’d have to go for less landscaping…the amount of plants, flowers, shrubs, trees, etc. is just overwhelming and I’d like to start from scratch!
Krista C. says
Homes me! I would love to have a garage.
Victoria Drescher says

Homes me! Happily, there’s not a lot I would change about our current (new to us) house. Maybe a few more windows, or a fireplace. A shorter commute would be nice, too, but we live 7 minutes away from family, which is great.
