An early Christmas present (in the form of this $500 Visa gift card) has randomly chosen to come to the hands of… Mary (whose dream house would be a “big cozy log cabin out in the woods” complete with fishing pond, swimming pool, hot tub, huge whirlpool tub in her bathroom and a giant walk in closet. Her fantasy list doesn’t end there, so check out her comment for the rest). Congrats Mary!
With a URL as broad as Homes.com, there are a lot of topics you might think they cover. Because people buy homes. They decorate homes. They do home improvements. You get the idea. Well, Homes.com does cover all of those things – from all stages of the home buying process to decor and DIY. We especially enjoyed their home values and city profiles (because we’re nerds for stuff like that). But what you’ll probably enjoy the most is the chance to win a $500 Visa gift card from Homes.com this week. Yup, five hundred dolla dolla bills (in plastic form) to spend wherever you’d like for whatever stage of home ownership you’re currently enjoying. Oh yeah, and they’re also giving away a signed copy of our book over on their blog.

HOMES ME! I would have more living/hanging out space. We have a great house, but we only have about a postage stamp-sized room for playing with our boys, so more space would be what I’d look for in another place.
Kimberly says
HOMES ME!
I would definitely look for a house on a quieter street. And with more closets. And a bigger yard. And without increasing my mortgage payments :)
Ben says
A garage…a real garage.
Anne M says
HOMES ME! We are currently saving up to buy our first home! But our must haves include a big kitchen, a yard and some potential DIY projects!
Beth says
HOMES ME!
Walk in closets for sure!
Sydney says
HOMES me! oh my gosh – I would totally love a kitchen with a dishwasher!!!!! (we bought a 1949 home and have yet to upgrade to one)
Dani says
Homes me! Walking distance to metro, library, movies, restaurants, and grocery. And a backyard for my pup. And a gorgeous kitchen for me. :)
sauceangeles says
HOMES ME! A yard, any yard is a big wish for us city dwellers!
Meagan says
HOMES ME!
Bigger backyard – We love ours with the dog, the garden, and the compost pits, but we’d like space for bees + chickens too!
Jen R. says
Homes me! I like my home now, but if I could add a mudroom and a basement for my 5 kiddos that would be great!
Colleen C. says
HOMES ME!…a wood burning fire place!
Karin says
Homes Me!
I would definately look for more closet space and an ensuite bath.
emily clawser says
Homes me! I want a house in Alphabet District in Portland OR!
emili says
HOMES ME! I’d def want to have fewer stairs… we’re in a tri-level now and you can’t go anywhere without having to go up or down steps!
Valerie says
HOMES ME!
We would look for something with a more open layout. The kitchen is a little too cut off from the rest of the house right now, but we still love our house!
Bethany says
HOMES ME! On my wishlist – larger master bath, preferably with two sinks, laundry room as opposed to a laundry closet and mudroom/entry.
Rebecca says
HOMES ME! I need another bathroom!
Lara says
Homes Me!
Definitely a bigger kitchen and a formal dining room!
Hunter says
Homes me! Weirdly enough, my must-have for the house itself is ‘SMALLER!’ I want a tiny home so badly.
Of course I also want a house on the beach somewhere cold and rocky, so I’m hoping the tiny makes the other easier to pull off!

It would have to be more living space. We’re in the middle of renovating our home to open up the living area (kitchen/dining room/living room) and had to put on an addition to get the space we needed.
Cristina M. says
Homes me!!! I would say location, location, location!! I learned the hard way that long commute = very cranky me.
Regina says
HOMES ME!
Charity M. says
HOMES ME!
The must haves in a house for my family would be 3 bedrooms, an office area, a garage, and no shared walls with the neighbors. We’ve lived in apartments for so many years it would be awesome to let my teenagers be normally loud without worrying if their music is going to wake the baby next door. :D
Becky E says
HOMES ME,
I would love a big wrap around porch.
Lindsey says
HOMES ME!
Jennifer W says
HOMES ME! I’d say more square footage.
Christina M says

Amanda says
HOMES ME!
Location relative to work would be essential! Certainly I’ve learned here that a little DIY can solve most other issues, and I’m always up for a project. =)
Mary says
HOMES ME! My must have is a back yard for our 18-month old little girl and her four-legged big brother to run around in.
Paula says
HOMES ME!
I would look for a 2-car garage and a basement

HOMES ME! I’d love bigger bedrooms, bathrooms, and kitchen.
Britt says
HOMES ME!
We need more square footage for sure!
Erin says
HOMES ME!
Nikki says
HOMES ME! In our next house, we need higher ceilings. Ours are standard height, but my husband is about 7 feet tall – that means all kinds of fun light fixtures and whatnot are out of the question, since my husband is likely to bounce off of anything that hangs down more than a few inches!
Anna M says
Homes me!
A fenced in yard for our dog!
Sarah says
Homes me and definitely a helipad lol.
Gen K. says
HOMES ME! I’d love to have a house in Michigan, closer to our family. Two must-haves for that house: wood floors and a fireplace!

A must – good weather location, not too hot, not too cold.
Shanon says
HOMES ME!
a gas oven and less square footage…haha probably don’t hear that much
Sarah S. says
HOMES ME!
Just bought my first house so of course it’s not my dream home yet. But when that day comes you’d better believe I will have some massive vaulted ceilings and tons of windows! I love the openness those things combined give a house, no matter how large or small the square footage.
Tracy says
Homes me! I really miss our 3 car garage. if we were buying today, I’d look for that!
Tanja says
HOMES ME! It has to have to full bathrooms. Ours currently has a main bathroom and a powder room ensuite. Downstairs there is an extra shower but its tiny and far from our bedrooms so a non started. I never knew how much this would bother me till now
Sandra says
HOMES ME!
My must haves include:
1) 4 bed 3 bath (for ease and comfort in having guests)
2) Garage
3) Small to Medium yard (big enough to keep the neighbors at bay, but not sooo big I need a riding lawn mower!)
elissa says
Homes me!!
His and Her closets!!..and big ones at that!!
Susie Wilson says
HOMES ME!
We would definitely have an extra bedroom at the top of our list, but a REAL garage (not a half-garage like we have) and a fenced-in backyard would be a close second & third!
