Fab Freebie: Homes On Homepage

*** This giveaway is now closed. See who won below! ***

An early Christmas present (in the form of this $500 Visa gift card) has randomly chosen to come to the hands of… Mary (whose dream house would be a “big cozy log cabin out in the woods” complete with fishing pond, swimming pool, hot tub, huge whirlpool tub in her bathroom and a giant walk in closet. Her fantasy list doesn’t end there, so check out her comment for the rest). Congrats Mary!

With a URL as broad as Homes.com, there are a lot of topics you might think they cover. Because people buy homes. They decorate homes. They do home improvements. You get the idea. Well, Homes.com does cover all of those things – from all stages of the home buying process to decor and DIY. We especially enjoyed their home values and city profiles (because we’re nerds for stuff like that). But what you’ll probably enjoy the most is the chance to win a $500 Visa gift card from Homes.com this week. Yup, five hundred dolla dolla bills (in plastic form) to spend wherever you’d like for whatever stage of home ownership you’re currently enjoying. Oh yeah, and they’re also giving away a signed copy of our book over on their blog.

My must-have for our next new home would be a toss-up between a neighborhood closer to work, and a larger master!

HOMES ME! At the top of my list (for the ideal home) would be a one-story home/apartment/whatever. I am tired of going up and down stairs and really miss my first place, which was all on one floor.

We wouldn’t move even if we won the lottery, we’d just continue to pimp out our current house (albeit more extravagantly) But, if we did move, we’d be looking for the house from Skyfall

HOMES ME! My priority would be location. The home would need to be located within walking distance to basic amentities: a grocery store, coffee shop, etc. I hate being dependent on a car and love the freedom and exercise walking gives me :)

We adore our current home – the cozy fireplace, bring-your-rocker front porch, and one-block walk to park cinched it. But, if we were looking… a garage that wasn’t about to fall down would be a nice addition to the list above!

A good location is the most critical thing. We bought in the far burbs to get more space and nicer finishes for our money. Big mistake–the 45-minute (at least) commute each way is miserable!

I don’t have my own home yet, but my top 5 “must haves” for a future place are: space (not too big, but not too small), a garden/yard, dedicated home office space, a nice sized kitchen and a BIG walk in master closet!

I would love to be able to look out the front of my house to the street view. Our home has the garages in the front and the front door on the side, so I can never check out what’s going on. At least the view out of the back is nice!

I have a long list of wants for our next house, but there is one major want. We never want to buy an existing home again. Since the hubby is an architect, it’s a life-long dream of his to design his own home. Now we just need the cash to do it!
