An early Christmas present (in the form of this $500 Visa gift card) has randomly chosen to come to the hands of… Mary (whose dream house would be a “big cozy log cabin out in the woods” complete with fishing pond, swimming pool, hot tub, huge whirlpool tub in her bathroom and a giant walk in closet. Her fantasy list doesn’t end there, so check out her comment for the rest). Congrats Mary!
With a URL as broad as Homes.com, there are a lot of topics you might think they cover. Because people buy homes. They decorate homes. They do home improvements. You get the idea. Well, Homes.com does cover all of those things – from all stages of the home buying process to decor and DIY. We especially enjoyed their home values and city profiles (because we’re nerds for stuff like that). But what you’ll probably enjoy the most is the chance to win a $500 Visa gift card from Homes.com this week. Yup, five hundred dolla dolla bills (in plastic form) to spend wherever you’d like for whatever stage of home ownership you’re currently enjoying. Oh yeah, and they’re also giving away a signed copy of our book over on their blog.

My must-have for our next new home would be a toss-up between a neighborhood closer to work, and a larger master!
Theresa S. says
“HOMES ME!” If you were to buy a new house today, it “must have” hardwood floors.
Kelli from LittleCottageOfMine says
Homes me!
More room! We live in 850 sq feet right now!
Nikki says
Homes Me! We live in a 100 year old Arts and Crafts Bungalow, so if we ever moved my must have would be updated plumbing and wiring!
Jenn says
HOMES ME! At the top of my list (for the ideal home) would be a one-story home/apartment/whatever. I am tired of going up and down stairs and really miss my first place, which was all on one floor.
carrie says
Homes Me! A playroom with a door to hide all the toys!
Ammie says
“HOMES ME!”
Central air – and a master suite.
Leigh says
Homes me!
I guess it’s not a must-have, but I would LOVE a window seat. A nice big one where I can curl up for reading/naps.
Lonikers says
HOMES ME!
I love my new house I wouldn’t change hardly anything about it… I just need some furniture now :(
Rebecca Armitage says
HOMES ME!!!
We wouldn’t move even if we won the lottery, we’d just continue to pimp out our current house (albeit more extravagantly) But, if we did move, we’d be looking for the house from Skyfall
Jenn says
HOMES ME!
We are actually in the process of selling our 1st house now and trying to buy a house in a more “family friendly” neighborhood for our little girl that is 2 -1/2 years old.
Melora says
Homes me!! I think we’d look for a yard that is more kid friendly!!
Amanda says
Homes me! I’d love a bigger living room or dedicated playroom. Thanks for the chance!
Laura says
“HOMES ME!” I would have extremely spacious bathrooms!!!
Jennifer says
Homes Me!
A library, with room for a nice comfortable couch and soundproof walls.
Julie says
HOMES ME! My priority would be location. The home would need to be located within walking distance to basic amentities: a grocery store, coffee shop, etc. I hate being dependent on a car and love the freedom and exercise walking gives me :)
reina says
HOMES ME! We just built our house two years ago but I reaaaaally want a garage. That’s coming soon in a few years, if we can afford it…
Brian says
HOMES ME! closer to church :)
Brandi G says
HOMES ME!! I would want a nice big bathtub. It’s one of the things that hasn’t been updated in our old ranch yet.
Michelle says
Homes me!!
All I know is that I’d die to finish my kitchen.
oneida says
HOMES ME!
oh man, it’s hard to pick just one! probably a kitchen that is attached to the main room instead of a hallway (we have a galley kitchen) OR one where the yard is already landscaped. we basically have a dirt lot with a giant weed garden.
Meredith says
HOMES ME! We just bought a house, but if I were to do it again I’d like to be closer to downtown so that more things are within walking distance.
LMC says
HOMES ME!
We adore our current home – the cozy fireplace, bring-your-rocker front porch, and one-block walk to park cinched it. But, if we were looking… a garage that wasn’t about to fall down would be a nice addition to the list above!
Heather says
Homes me!
I would want a bigger master bathroom – the one in our current house is so small that my husband and I rub elbows if we’re in there at the same time!
Aurelie says
homes me!!! i’d love a 2 car garage. our current home has a -1 car garage (more like a shed that is falling over).
Kristen says
HOMES ME!
A good location is the most critical thing. We bought in the far burbs to get more space and nicer finishes for our money. Big mistake–the 45-minute (at least) commute each way is miserable!
julia says
HOMES ME!
I don’t have my own home yet, but my top 5 “must haves” for a future place are: space (not too big, but not too small), a garden/yard, dedicated home office space, a nice sized kitchen and a BIG walk in master closet!
Lindsey says
Home’s Me! I would like some good kitchen square footage – doesn’t need to be updated, but having good bones in a house is a must-have:)
Jenna C. says
HOMES ME! I would love to have a home in a more bike-friendly location.
Anastasia T. says
HOMES ME!
If I were to buy a house today my #1 on the list of Must Haves would be a front porch. #2 would be a back yard for entertaining.
Sam says
HOMES ME!
I would love to be able to look out the front of my house to the street view. Our home has the garages in the front and the front door on the side, so I can never check out what’s going on. At least the view out of the back is nice!
HeatherL says
HOMES ME!
I think I would want a finished basement and an updated kitchen. We want both in our current house, but can’t spend the money. It would’ve been easier if the house already had it!
Jessica J (MN) says
HOMES ME. We just bought a new home and it fits pretty much everything on my bill. but I would love a soaker bathtub.
Lindsey S says
HOMES ME!
Well we just bought a house in September, but if i had to buy another one, I’d look for one with more natural light.
Brittany @ Clark's All-Purpose says
HOMES ME!
I have a long list of wants for our next house, but there is one major want. We never want to buy an existing home again. Since the hubby is an architect, it’s a life-long dream of his to design his own home. Now we just need the cash to do it!
Laura Roussy says
HOMES ME! I’d love a nice backyard and a few more bedrooms :)
Katie says
Homes Me! Our must have list is a fenced in yard to help our little guy who loves to be outside avoid stray dogs and have more independance without us constantly being “on his case”
Bobby says
Homes Me! If I were to purchase a home now, I think I would have to incorporate extra money for renovations and get it all knocked out at once.
Deelynn says
HOMES ME! A single story, we live in a multiple-level house and I am so over all the stairs!
leah says
Homes me! If we were going to buy a new house we would want the bedrooms seperated a bit more. Sounds wierd but having our kids right across the hall gets kinda wierd as they get older. We would love to have them on a second floor and us on the main floor.
Casandra says
HOMES ME! We are hopefully closing on our first house next week and our must have was all about location, location, location.
Katie S. says
Homes Me!
A large master bath, with a jacuzzi tub.
Thomas G. says
HOMES ME!
Definitely a helipad… and, of course, a deep swimming pool so that I can high-dive from the helicopter into the pool.
Anne says
HOMES ME!
I want a place that I’d be able to love forever, growing and expanding with the house as time passed.
Ashley says
Homes me!
I want to live in an actual house – not an apartment!
Karyl says
Homes me! Pretty please!
An extra 500 sf and a mudroom too.
Mary says
HOMES ME!
More bedrooms, bigger living space, and bigger kitchen!
Meghan M. says
Homes Me! My must-have would be a finished attic area if I were to leave our house. :)
Lauren O says
Homes Me! Next time around we would want a garage. We have little to no outside storage and it’s terrible. Another bedroom wouldn’t hurt either.
Christina @ Homemade Ocean says
HOMES ME!!!!
A kitchen the whole family could be in…so tired of the teeny kitchen :)
