An early Christmas present (in the form of this $500 Visa gift card) has randomly chosen to come to the hands of… Mary (whose dream house would be a “big cozy log cabin out in the woods” complete with fishing pond, swimming pool, hot tub, huge whirlpool tub in her bathroom and a giant walk in closet. Her fantasy list doesn’t end there, so check out her comment for the rest). Congrats Mary!
With a URL as broad as Homes.com, there are a lot of topics you might think they cover. Because people buy homes. They decorate homes. They do home improvements. You get the idea. Well, Homes.com does cover all of those things – from all stages of the home buying process to decor and DIY. We especially enjoyed their home values and city profiles (because we’re nerds for stuff like that). But what you’ll probably enjoy the most is the chance to win a $500 Visa gift card from Homes.com this week. Yup, five hundred dolla dolla bills (in plastic form) to spend wherever you’d like for whatever stage of home ownership you’re currently enjoying. Oh yeah, and they’re also giving away a signed copy of our book over on their blog.

HOMES ME!
Well, we just bought our first house last year, so I’ll tell you what we looked for, cause this house had it all. A large kitchen, acreage, enough room for my three kids to each have a room and for a spare guest room/office, and a fixer-uper. We got all that and more!

HOMES ME!
We need more space in our next place! With just 1,000 square feet in our current condo, a detached house with more room is a must for my wife and I.
Tara says
HOMES ME! My must-have would be a bigger Dining Room…we never have enough room for everyone at holiday dinners!
Lesli says
HOMES ME! We would really love an outbuilding my husband could make into a pottery studio with storage space. he is a potter and we really do not have much room at our house now.
Elizabeth says
HOMES ME!
Guest quarters, possibly in a detached form… we get a lot of guests and like our space :)
Caitlin Skoda says
HOMES ME
(oh please, oh please!!!)
I think it would be fun to have one of those hidden rooms behind a bookshelf or wall panel! Not a must have…but a girl can dream…(plus those rooms are always in super hawt houses, so there’s that!)
Jerrika Jerome says
HOMES ME! A good walking score!
Jennifer Compton says
Homes Me!
A larger garage, and larger bedrooms!
Ruth T. says
HOMES ME! I want a house that doesn’t have a leaky stove pipe. Ha ha! Seattle can be relentless in the winter!
Kylie says
HOMES ME!
A nice yard and a dishwasher = must-haves.

Homes Me!!
I would find a home near where I currently live, but closer to the downtown arts district. A must have, however, would be built in shelves and a fireplace in the living room. Most homes in my are restored from the 20s-40s and include goregous details in the structure of the homes!
Grazielle says
HOMES ME!
A new house for me would definitely require a door that leads right to the backyard. I would also really love to have more square footage and a fireplace.
Carla says
HOMES ME!
An open floor plan – kitchen, dining area and living area – so I can be a part of large gatherings in our home. :)
Joann says
HOMES ME! Outdoor living space would be awesome.
Amy Cooper says
HOMES ME!
I want a sweet little home with some character, but also begging for lots of work!
Andy says
HOMES ME!
A must have would be a two-car garage. Ohio winters and frozen windshields are not fun on 10 degree mornings!
Andrea says
HOMES ME!
I would want a master bedroom with an attached bath and HUGE walk-in closet.
Laura says
HOMES ME!
A second bathroom…most definitely! One is just not enough.
Kristen says
HOMES ME! We just bought a new house last year but if there was one thing i wish it had it is a fireplace! How I would love a fireplace!

Cassie W says
Homes me! Lots of kids and safe places for them to play.

We need a bigger garage…or a shop! Hubs has a LOT of stuff with motors. And tools. And DIY supplies (aka: tools). Two tool chests (more tools). And the poochie’s very own alone-time-it’s-too-noisy-in-the-house space. You’d be amazed at what he can get into a standard two-car garage….seriously.
michele double you says
…and by “he,” I mean Hubs, not the dog. Poochie is a “she.” :)

I would have to have a larger master suite. Ours is always cold and feels like a cave :(

I would love bigger closets and a master bathroom!
Kelly says
HOMES ME! I would require enough rooms for my whole family. So five rooms or more!

Our next house will have a fireplace and front porch. Those are two things we didn’t get with our first house, that I wish we had.
Beth says
“HOMES ME!”
A nice flat yard and a place to put a basketball hoop!
Rachel says

Another bathroom. Oh and having a house instead of an apartment would be amazing!
Angela says

Tonya says
Homes me! I’d add more storage space and space for a kitchen island. I love my small house but those items would sure make it function better!
LoquaciousLaura says

I love my current home, but if I were to buy another, I’d probably be looking for a better spot within our school district. Or a really big master bath! (Ours is tiny, you can touch all four walls from the center!)
Nikki Olson says
Homes Me, Please!
Mary says
HOMES ME! I’d have to have a master bath!
hanah says
homes me! pantry – definitely a pantry.

Kris says
Homes Me! I love my current home, but it is time for some remodeling.
Meredith T says
HOMES Me!
We are sort of looking for a house right now. I think our #1 priority is a kitchen that isn’t the size of a child’s play kitchen (which is basically what we have now). I’m pretty certain our realtor could show us a house with just a regular sized kitchen and a bedroom and we would be in love.
Laurie says
HOMES ME! Really, really want a mudroom!
@n210ss says
HOMES ME!
If I bought a home today, I would want more square footage and a big Olympic sized pool!!!
Monica says
Homes me !
A screen in porch or sun room, not that there’s much time for lounging these days!
Jackie P. says
Homes me, please!
We would like a bigger kitchen in our next house, and my husband would really like the kitchen and living room to be on the same floor (there is a half a flight of stairs separating them in our current split level).
Carolina says
Homes Me!!!
If we were to buy a home today, we would live in a funkier (and less expensive) area. We live in the ‘burbs near Boston and it is expensive and boring. Someday it’ll be Asheville, NC!
Jillie says
If we were to get a new house it must be on a decent size of property
Andi says
HOMES ME!
A larger yard would be top of our list so our dog, Vinnie, could have more space to play.
Angela says
HOMES ME! I love the house we are currently in but…..I need a pantry! Didn’t realize when we bought it there was no pantry!
Jen S. says
HOME ME! I would want a garage. And maybe a little more space. …but we’re pretty happy right where we are.
Jen MC says
HOMES ME!!
We are looking for something in a good school district with a decent yard.
