An early Christmas present (in the form of this $500 Visa gift card) has randomly chosen to come to the hands of… Mary (whose dream house would be a “big cozy log cabin out in the woods” complete with fishing pond, swimming pool, hot tub, huge whirlpool tub in her bathroom and a giant walk in closet. Her fantasy list doesn’t end there, so check out her comment for the rest). Congrats Mary!
With a URL as broad as Homes.com, there are a lot of topics you might think they cover. Because people buy homes. They decorate homes. They do home improvements. You get the idea. Well, Homes.com does cover all of those things – from all stages of the home buying process to decor and DIY. We especially enjoyed their home values and city profiles (because we’re nerds for stuff like that). But what you’ll probably enjoy the most is the chance to win a $500 Visa gift card from Homes.com this week. Yup, five hundred dolla dolla bills (in plastic form) to spend wherever you’d like for whatever stage of home ownership you’re currently enjoying. Oh yeah, and they’re also giving away a signed copy of our book over on their blog.

Homes me! We are currently househunting right now, going from city living to the ‘burbs. My requirement is that I be able to walk out the door and go running – don’t want to drive anywhere to reach a running trail!

Homes me! We just bought a house and I’m pretty happy with it! there are things we want to change of course, so perhaps I would like a house with a secret stash of cash hidden in one of the drawers, which we find on move-in day and would pay for the updates?!?! :)

A new home would HAVE to have a bigger/better kitchen. It doesn’t have to be huge, just bigger than the poorly laid out, teeny tiny thing I have now.

HOMES ME!
We’re actually in the midst of building a home (yes, it’s as exciting, yet intimidating as it sounds) and my number one criteria for our land was location. First, I wanted to make sure we were in the school district I prefered and second, I wanted a nice neighborhood — not too big, not too small, with families in similar seasons of life as us. I think we hit the jackpot! We’re within walking distance to our school of choice, and so far, all of the neighbors we’ve met have been great. I started blogging about the process from the day we broke ground, if you’re interested (http://lot23blog.blogspot.com). :)

If we were buying a new house today, I would probably look for one with a third bedroom on the main floor. Our second baby will be here in a few months, and I’m a bit nervous about the “sharing a bedroom” transition.
Katie says

The most important thing we would look for in a new home is a yard that has at least five wooded acres. The house can be updated and changed, but the lot is there to stay!
Heather says
HOMES ME! – I’m looking for more space, a basement we can use, a garage, a yard, a driveway without a giant hill!
Lauren says
HOMES ME!
We would love a home with large windows and lots of trees in the backyard. Maybe even a home in the country as we feel most at peace when we are out in nature.
Kate says
Homes me…a finished basement. Seems simple enough until you don’t have one and you price out all the work to get it there.
Autumn says
HOMES ME! There are quite a few things on our list for our next home, but at the top right now is the ability to fence in the yard. We actually just moved into our brand new home last year, but didn’t find out until 2 days before closing that the city won’t allow us to fence in most of our back yard due to a buried sewer pipe… Super annoying with three kids and a dog!
Dana Summers says
“HOMES ME!” The outdoors is like another room, so I would love to have a bigger backyard. Thanks for the contest.

Amanda says

My must have would be a large kitchen. My tiny galley kitchen isn’t cutting it!
Shellie Laird says
HOMES ME PLEASE!!!
It would definately be more square footage. We currently have 888 sq ft and though I’m grateful for what we have, I’d like more room before we have more children!
Laura says
