Fab Freebie: Homes On Homepage

*** This giveaway is now closed. See who won below! ***

An early Christmas present (in the form of this $500 Visa gift card) has randomly chosen to come to the hands of… Mary (whose dream house would be a “big cozy log cabin out in the woods” complete with fishing pond, swimming pool, hot tub, huge whirlpool tub in her bathroom and a giant walk in closet. Her fantasy list doesn’t end there, so check out her comment for the rest). Congrats Mary!

With a URL as broad as Homes.com, there are a lot of topics you might think they cover. Because people buy homes. They decorate homes. They do home improvements. You get the idea. Well, Homes.com does cover all of those things – from all stages of the home buying process to decor and DIY. We especially enjoyed their home values and city profiles (because we’re nerds for stuff like that). But what you’ll probably enjoy the most is the chance to win a $500 Visa gift card from Homes.com this week. Yup, five hundred dolla dolla bills (in plastic form) to spend wherever you’d like for whatever stage of home ownership you’re currently enjoying. Oh yeah, and they’re also giving away a signed copy of our book over on their blog.

    HOMES ME!

The list would be very long – more than one full bath, a larger master bedroom, lots of outside storage, a level yard, more square footage, 4+ bedrooms, historic charm.

But for now, I’m happy for what I have, which is a roof over my head that I’ve worked to make into a home that I love!

Our must haves list is long (we are currently scouring the web for a new home) but we have to have a large backyard. You cant change the size of a yard, but you can change inside features if they aren’t perfect.

For my next house, I’ll settle for no unexpected home repairs within the first 2 years and a covered outdoor space in which to paint furniture (a garage, carport or shed would be nice!)

If I were to buy a home it would first and foremost have to be in a good school district and a safe neighborhood. It would have to have at least three bedrooms and a big kitchen. It would have to be mostly move in ready as my husband is not a DIY guy at all!

Well we just bought our first house, so we shouldn’t be wishing for something new already, but… we would definitely want another bedroom and second bathroom. Or if we could just get a little more closet space and two sinks in the bathroom, we’d be pretty happy.

homes me! My husband and I just bought a new house, and my one “must-have” that I compromised on was an honest-to-goodness laundry room. The other benefits of our current house more than make up for it, but oh my god, I would die for a utility/laundry room!

We actually just built a brand new home (moved in just two months ago!) And we’re so thrilled with it. However, there are a few things that we’d do differently in our next home, including bigger bathrooms, more outlets in hidden areas (bathroom vanities, pantry, coat closet, etc.), more outdoor taps, bigger backyard… Building is definitely a learning experience!
